"It actually feels like we’re back in the same office"

What do you like best about SoWork?

What surprised me most is how much it actually feels like being in the same office. I expected just another video call tool with a cute map on top, but the sense of presence is real. I can see who’s around, who’s focused and who’s free, and just walk my avatar over to ask a quick question. No scheduling, no “got a minute?” message followed by twenty minutes of waiting.

Our team is split between development, infrastructure and client support, and those quick hallway conversations were exactly what we lost working remotely. SoWork brought them back. Problems that used to turn into a meeting on the calendar now get solved in two minutes at someone’s “desk.”

I also love that the AI meeting notes are built in, so I don’t have to choose between paying attention and taking notes, and that we could design the office layout to match how our team actually works. Honestly, I didn’t expect a virtual office to change our day-to-day this much. It did, and the team actually enjoys showing up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SoWork?

Honestly, not much, and the things I’d point out are more growing pains than real problems. It took a little time for the whole team to adopt the habit of “showing up” in the office every day. A few people were used to working heads-down in Slack and needed a couple of weeks to get comfortable being visible and approachable. Once that clicked, it worked great.

I’d also love to see more native integrations with the tools we use daily. We still jump between SoWork and some other systems more than I’d like, and having more of that context inside the office would make it even better. Small things, really, compared to how much it has improved our communication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SoWork solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem SoWork solves for us is the isolation and communication lag that come with remote work. Our team covers backend development, infrastructure and client support for ISPs, so issues often need two or three people to look at them together, and fast. Before SoWork, that meant a chain of chat messages, waiting for replies, and eventually scheduling a call. Now I can see who’s available and just walk over. Something that used to take an hour to get going is sorted out in a few minutes.

It also cut down on unnecessary scheduled meetings. Many of the things we used to put on the calendar now get handled in quick, spontaneous conversations, which leaves more time for actual work.

And there’s the culture side, which I didn’t expect. Having a shared space where people see each other every day brought back a sense of being a team, not just names in a chat window. New hires get to know everyone faster, and people feel more comfortable asking for help. For a small company like ours, that has made a real difference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
