What I find most useful about SonarQube is that it highlights specific issues in the code rather than only providing a general quality score. The detailed explanations make it easier to understand why something was flagged and what needs to be adjusted. I also appreciate the Quality Gate feature because it gives the team a clear, consistent way to decide whether a change is ready to move forward. Having code smells, duplication, and test coverage visible in one place is especially helpful during day-to-day development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One thing that can be frustrating is having to deal with issues that are technically valid but not always worth fixing right away. In older codebases especially, the sheer number of reported issues can feel overwhelming, and it takes time to sort truly important problems from smaller maintainability concerns. Quality Gate failures can also end up blocking a pipeline over issues that have little to no impact on the actual change being made. Getting to a point where the results are genuinely useful often requires some upfront effort to set up exclusions, tune quality profiles, and define project-specific rules.
