"Solidworks: intuitive and comprehensive for 2D, 3D, CAM, and CAE all in one place"

What do you like best about SOLIDWORKS?

Solidworks has been my favorite software since I discovered it in 2010. Its layout is based on Windows, making it much more intuitive. The software integrates various areas in one place, 2D drawings, 3D, CAM, CAE, among others, allowing multiple tasks to be performed using a single software. I am a Solidworks Champion and maintain an active page on GrabCAD, where I have published approximately 500 projects developed entirely in Solidworks. Although I use the software daily in my work environment, I also acquired the student license to deepen my studies at home, which allowed me to achieve various official certifications, including CSWA, CSWP, CSWPA-DT, CSWPA-SM, CSWPA-SU, among others.

This journey highlights not only the technical mastery of the tool but also the continuous commitment to professional evolution. Moreover, Solidworks has become my central software, replacing various other CAD and engineering solutions, reinforcing its versatility and efficiency.

From a return on investment perspective, Solidworks demonstrates high cost-benefit: the investment made in the license is widely compensated by gains in productivity, learning, certifications, and recognition in the technical community. What do you dislike about SOLIDWORKS?

I think it's a bit weak for working with molds and surfaces. Although it can create a lot, sometimes it lets me down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SOLIDWORKS solving and how is that benefiting you?

I work with EPS injection molds. Before I took over, another designer used PowerShape to create the cavity and core of the mold, Creo to apply the draft angles, and MicroStation to prepare the 2D drawings, as well as Microsoft Word to prepare the critical mold analysis, checklists, etc. Today, I can do everything within Solidworks, which has made the workflow much more straightforward. I even did some tests with Solidworks Plastics, but since I didn't have support to validate the simulations in the software, I ended up leaving that part aside for now.
