What do you like best about Smodin?

The best part about this software is that it sits entirely on our own IT infrastructure. It is not acceptable to just dump patient files or billing information in a public cloud tool in healthcare. With Compass, you get the modern pace of technology while keeping data behind your own company firewall. The project system is functioning smoothly as well. I can create a separate, organized folder for each audit so that files don’t get mixed up. The text system can interpret PDFs and scanned charts quite well and shows the exact page from the manual or code that it used for its answer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smodin?

Because it runs locally, it took a long time to prepare. Our IT security had to communicate with them on-and-off for almost three weeks before we could login. It’s certainly not like buying something and opening it five minutes later. Likewise, when you throw a huge batch of patient histories into a project all at once, it takes the system around twenty minutes to process and index the words. After that, it works quickly, but the initial wait can be quite irritating when you are in a hurry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Smodin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Things were looking bad for us. We needed a smart tool to check our growing pile of claims but every popular app required that we send outside patient data to their outside cloud servers. We performed everything manually, which was taking up almost 70% of our day’s working time. Compass integrated that power into our network. These days, our reviews are about two-thirds faster than last year. We do checks every month now instead of every three months so we can fix coding mistakes before they are raised as proper audit penalties. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
