The interface is very user-friendly and clean, and I find it really easy to use. For translation projects, Smartcat is my preferred CAT tool. Everything is in the right place, so even a beginner translator can start working right away—translating and managing projects—with almost no learning curve. My biggest concern with Smartcat is its translator rating system. While it does take into account factors like responsiveness and on-time delivery, a translator’s profile still depends heavily on clients completing the project workflow and leaving feedback. If a client never marks a project as completed and leaves it “In Progress,” the translator gets no recognition for having successfully finished the job.

In practice, you might complete dozens or even hundreds of projects on time, yet those projects add no value to your profile, rating, or performance history simply because the client didn’t complete the final step. As a result, the rating system doesn’t always reflect a translator’s real experience, reliability, or the quality of their work. I think Smartcat should acknowledge completed work independently of client actions, or at least provide a way for translators to request project closure after a reasonable period of inactivity.
