**What do you like best about Slack?**

One thing I really like about Slack is how it keeps communication organized and easy to manage. Instead of everything getting lost in emails or group texts, conversations are separated into channels, which makes it simple to find information and stay on track.

It also helps me move faster. I can quickly message teammates, share updates, and get answers in real time without waiting around. That kind of speed makes a big difference when things need to get done efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Honestly, I don’t have many dislikes about Slack because it’s been a reliable tool for communication. However, one concern I’ve had in the past is around security. There was a time where the platform experienced a hacking issue, and it highlighted how important it is to protect sensitive information when using communication tools.

Even though situations like that are rare, it made me more aware of being cautious about what’s shared and how platforms manage security. That said, Slack has continued to improve over time, and it hasn’t taken away from the overall value I get from using it.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack solves the problem of slow and scattered communication. Instead of relying on long email chains or waiting hours for responses, it allows for direct, real time conversations that keep things moving.

One of the biggest problems it fixes is lack of clarity. With direct messaging and organized channels, I can quickly reach the right person, ask a question, and get an answer without confusion or delays.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I really like that Slack makes communication real-time and seamless, allowing easy file transfers and storage, as well as video calls and huddles. I've been using it for nearly 10 years, and it's consistently been a top tool for me and many clients. It stores files and makes it easy to switch between files and chats, which is a big plus. The uptime is great, as it very rarely goes down, and I can have 100 different chats and access them easily. Additionally, I can find files from years ago quickly with a keyboard shortcut and search. The initial setup was also very easy, just signing up, adding a credit card, adding users, and we're ready to go.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Sharing channels can sometimes be tough with admin approvals, ideally it would be easier to do this.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack makes communication real-time and seamless, integrates tool automation, and allows easy switching between chats and files. It simplifies file storage and retrieval with quick search, enhancing collaboration and efficiency.

The integration ecosystem and the new Slack AI features (launched in early 2026) are game-changers. The ability to generate instant summaries of long threads and the "Meeting Intelligence" that recaps huddles and Zoom calls saves me hours of catch-up time. I also value Slack Connect for its ability to bridge different organizations into a single, secure workspace without the friction of guest accounts

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The pricing model has become increasingly aggressive, especially with Slack AI being a paid per-seat add-on that requires upgrading the entire team. Additionally, without strict "thread hygiene," large workspaces can become incredibly chaotic and overwhelming. The search function, while improved by AI, can still feel less precise than traditional file-based search when looking for specific historical data

Slack solves the problem of "email fatigue" and fragmented communication. By centralizing notifications from other tools (like GitHub, Jira, and Salesforce) into specific channels, it transforms from a chat app into a live dashboard for our entire business. This transparency ensures that everyone is aligned on the latest project updates and urgent bugs without needing constant status meetings

I use Slack in Jio Haptik to maintain internal communication and manage projects effectively. I appreciate that Slack eliminates the back-and-forth over email. It's very user-friendly, and I like that it lets me customize my communication and themes, including the color scheme. These features keep my work life interactive and professionally active with active nudges, status updates, and other features that prevent it from getting boring. The initial setup was seamless.

The search filter could be improved and could get more specific so that we can jump to the date and keywords easily. Just make it beyond threads.

No matter the department or time zone, Slack’s channel-based messaging and direct messages have become an essential part of our workflow, keeping our team responsive, aligned, and in sync. Thanks to its smooth integrations, we can collaborate across locations with very little friction.

Slack has also evolved into the central place for day-to-day conversations, file sharing, and even getting work done, especially through integrations with tools like Google Drive, Zoom, and our project management software. As a result, it has made it much easier to manage different parts of the project lifecycle without constantly switching between apps.

Once we got up to speed, Slack quickly became our team’s go-to communication tool. Even as our teams grow and message volume increases, we can still rely on consistent performance and a seamless user experience.

Slack excels at many things, but task management is one area where it needs improvement.

Slack's ability to centralize communication has revolutionized our team. The issue of fragmented communication that can arise from lengthy email threads and dispersed messages has been resolved. I love the app aspect on my phone, as it makes communication easy, especially when I'm doing errands during the day and should be on the clock. It also makes life easier for quick responses and getting on a video call if necessary. It's very easy and very simple. The initial setup was extremely easy, very straightforward, and streamlined, taking very little time. It's pretty straightforward to use for direct communication with colleagues.

Sometimes the Slack integrations with our other tools or other AI tools like Attention can give us problems. But other than that, it's pretty straightforward to use for direct communication with colleagues.

The best thing about Slack is how it cuts down the endless email chains. You can just ping someone, share a file instantly, and keep conversations organized in channels.

The constant notifications can drive you crazy. You get pulled into a dozen side conversations, and before you know it, you’ve lost an hour of real work. Also, searching for an old message or file?

Slack solves the mess of scattered communication—like digging through endless emails, missed DMs on different apps, or waiting hours for a reply. It keeps everything in one place: channels for projects, direct chats, file sharing, and even quick huddles. The benefit for me? Way less stress. I can find what I need fast, loop in the right people instantly, and actually get stuff done without playing "where did that conversation go?" It’s like cleaning up a cluttered desk—suddenly everything just flows.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The "Huddle" feature is a game-changer for quick syncs without the formality of a scheduled Zoom call. I love that it feels more like walking over to someone's desk. The search functionality is also incredibly robust; I can find a specific file or conversation from six months ago in seconds. Additionally, the native "Canvas" and "Lists" features have made it much easier to keep project notes and to-dos right where the conversation is happening, rather than jumping between different apps.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The notification management can be a double-edged sword. If you’re in a lot of channels, the "information overload" is real, and it takes some time to fine-tune the settings so you aren't pinged every two seconds.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem Slack solves for me is "inbox fatigue" and the fragmentation of information. Before Slack, important project updates were buried in long CC’d email chains, making it nearly impossible for new team members to get up to speed.

I like the good interface of the whole Slack platform. I find its integration with different software, like Figma, very useful. The huddle interface is just amazing. The searchability feature makes finding a file or a specific feedback comment from months ago effortless. I also appreciate the threads feature, which keeps conversations organized and prevents the main channel from getting cluttered. Integrating Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud with Slack is a significant improvement, as it reduces context switching and allows me to stay in the 'creative flow' longer.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I wish there was a more robust 'Gallery' or 'Asset View' for each channel that organized shared images and Figma links more intuitively. The message history limit is a significant drawback for long-term projects where you might need to reference design decisions or assets from over a year ago.

Great for communication and visibility, additionally makes it easier to collaborate with team members in different time zones. UI/UX  is extremely user friendly

Sometimes it can feel like a bit of an information overload. Muting channels isn’t always the best option, because you may miss messages that contain information you need to see but where you aren’t directly tagged. Also, with so many channels, people often mute them, and then it can be difficult to make sure everyone is seeing the important messages unless you tag “here,” which can be a bit much at times.

The search feature is really helpful for looking up historical information. The integrations are also handy for streamlining tedious tasks, and they sometimes work better than the apps on their own. I also appreciate the visibility into conversations I may not have been included in but still need information from.

The ease of connection with my colleagues - it is the only tool I would consider for communication in medium to large scal companies - it is intuitive, easy to use and very customizable. It allows me to integrate with so many of my favourite tools, and teh community around slack online is incredible!

it can sometimes be a bit slow or buggy, and when Slack goes down it feels like I am so disconnected - it makes me realize how muchI rely on it!

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack allows me to create public and private channels based on user needs. Public channels are great for organization-wide communication, such as product release updates, where everyone can join and start contributing. Private channels are perfect for more private conversations and informal discussions, with admin control ensuring privacy. I appreciate having everything available on one platform instead of multiple WhatsApp groups, making internal communication seamless. It's handy that Slack can be used on mobile devices too, making it an omnichannel tool for us.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

What doesn't work well for me is, ideally, we should also be able to connect this to WhatsApp, Telegram, and other channels of communication. Wherein, anyone who wants to, you know, interact with anyone, they can directly have their Slack-based updates under one platform itself, and you can go and respond to them in an omnichannel way. Is what I feel is lacking, and that can be a good feature to have.

Slack solves communication issues by replacing WhatsApp groups with organized channels for internal interaction. I send documents, codes, and have video calls easily. It offers public and private channels, fulfilling our needs for both open and private communications.

I like how easy and immediate it is to communicate within and across teams. I like how you can organize channels and set favorites so that they’re quick to find and answer.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I dislike the inability to organize by links shared in the channels or conversations. Also, the left sidebar has me still scrolling for days. It’s so busy.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The AI summaries are helpful to catch me up on anything I missed across channels and workspaces. I’m bouncing through 5-6 workspaces and I’m saving a lot of time with the use of those AI summaries than having to manually go through every channel and conversation that I missed.

I use Slack to communicate across different departments at my job. It helps our team avoid miscommunication and lack of transparency. I enjoy the option to message, video chat, or voice chat depending on whatever your preferred communication method is. You don’t have to go about scheduling a call with someone; all you have to do is click a button, and you’re instantly connected with the other person. The initial setup was very easy, as I simply created a user with my organization email.

It would be great to have read receipts for messages, that way we know when our message has been received.

the collaboration features.  Chat is easy, but i do like the integrations with other systems.

how replies to a chat you put in a channel does not show as the channel is unread...have to dig into unreads or threads - very annoying.

also wish i could right click on a channel and mark unread - like the mobile app

The best communication platform for the workspace. The UI is simple and intuitive, and I can manage multiple workspaces within the same app. The thread and follow-up features, along with the channel bookmark feature, are great for keeping work-related communication organized. The GitHub integration is also a life changer, because it helps me track what’s happening outside the Slack space without losing context.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Sometimes notifications aren’t consistent between my desktop and mobile devices, which can lead to me missing important messages.

All work-related communication in one app. It’s easy to keep threads going and follow up on tasks, and file sharing is straightforward. I also like the integrations with Git and other task managers.

I like how Slack helps us communicate with the B2B agents really quickly, and we can share documents easily within the platform, so everything is in one place. I appreciate the ability to create a quick call and sync up immediately without needing to schedule a call over Zoom or Teams, which saves us time and helps us get quick resolutions. The initial setup of Slack was quite smooth for us because we had a dev team helping out.

Sometimes logging into Slack takes a little bit of time, so when you click on it, it takes some time to set up the entire thing. That probably could be sped up a little bit.

I love how you can organize communications by channels in Slack. The reminder feature is really helpful for scheduling reminders so I don't forget important steps. I enjoy using it for both work and personal connection. The interface keeps communication very organized and the @ feature lets me see only what I need to. I also enjoy the emoji reactions and GIFs as they make for fun team connection, especially as a remote company. It's extremely easy to set up.

I don't care for the availability feature. It feels too manual and I forget it's there.

Slack has a wide variety of integrations and options that can help streamline communications and bring notifications from multiple apps into a single place - with the Zapier integration we can have automations set up  to notify our team on everything from job applications to form submissions on our website. The web/desktop/mobile apps are all fairly straightforward and easy to navigate, depending on the number of channels you're in - it can quickly balloon out of control. But the "catch up" option on mobile is super handy and I wish it was available on the desktop app as well.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

We have several thousand users and grouping of channels is non-existent, which leads to a fair amount of chaos - because of our specific use case, we can't lock down the ability to create channels to just admins either, but it would be nice to be able to limit channel creation to certain groups (if that functionality existed). Another minor annoyance is having certain functionality (like the full deletion of a user) locked to the primary owner, can be a real challenge - especially since our CEO set up our workspace when we were in the startup phase.

What I love about Slack is how it has evolved into a legitimate "command center" for my data projects. The UI/UX is much more intuitive than a traditional CRM and being able to organize my work into dedicated channels keeps my data workstreams from getting tangled. The AI/Intelligence features, specifically the Glean integration, are massive for me because I am able to search across our company’s entire knowledge base and get AI-summarized answers directly in a thread saves me hours of digging through old docs which is really great.
The integrations are where I see the most ROI. Having my Google Calendar synced means I never miss a client briefing, and managing performance via Lattice or building team culture through Donut happens all in one place. Its performance is incredibly snappy, even with high volumes of data files being shared, and the onboarding is so seamless that I can get a new project team up and running in minutes. It has basically eliminated the need for "tab-switching" in my daily workflow so definitely great to use..

The downside maybe would be the notification fatigue on busy days, the signal ration can get pretty high, and important data alerts can easily get buried under casual chatter. I also find the search functionality a bit hit-or-miss even with the AI upgrades, trying to track down a specific decision made in a deep thread from three months ago can feel like a scavenger hunt but still it's a great use when comes to company communication platform.

I think the UI and the interface of Slack are great, and it's really easy to use. I love that you can just copy and paste a document or a picture directly into Slack. It's amazing how you can create separate threads to keep conversations organized. It helps me keep two conversations on different lines at the same time. The ability to share documents quickly is particularly valuable in my recruiting job when I need fast feedback. Also, I find it very easy to spot the chats on the user interface, especially with my frequent contacts.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think a lot of times the integrations are like, you need to give a lot of different types of integration authorization. If I want to send a Zoom link to someone I'm chatting with, I don't know how many time I need to authorize Zoom. For third-party integrations, that can definitely be smoother.

Messages sometimes don't get read despite marking as read. It's probably a mobile app issue. Tapping on mark read doesn't mark the read.

I came here to update my opinion but after reading what I wrote in the past, it is still the very same:

Among the communication software I've used, Slack is definitely the most complete, intuitive, and has a beautiful interface. I can't think of any areas for improvement... The ability to create channels with people both inside and outside my organization is amazing! Being able to make individual or group calls, share screens, connect with Google Calendar. Overall, I think it's great!

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Sometimes my Slack settings just randomly get messed up. For example, the Google Calendar integration that updates my status according to my schedule. Out of nowhere it stops working, and when I open the settings it says it’s active, but in reality it isn’t. Another issue is that my Slack no longer plays sound notifications, even though it’s configured to do so. I’d say these two things have been bothering me a bit hehe 😅

I work in a 100% remote company, so it's solving the issue of distance between team members. It benefits me because I can easily get in touch with my colleagues and clients.

I’m not a big fan of notification alerts or the sounds they make (I turned these off back in 2013), or of feeling like I need to instantly answer questions in Slack channels. I think you need time to think through your response and be more mindful, rather than reacting immediately.

Slack is great when you need a new team member to get up to speed. Instantly adding them to specific channels lets them absorb previous conversations, which is meaningful for the existing team and helps them understand the context quickly. We say it’s like “drinking from the firehose,” but at least you can control how much you consume.

It reduces friction, too: you can go from a quick message to a call, share a file, or loop someone in instantly without breaking your flow. That’s exactly why fast-moving teams rely on it.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack’s main downside is how quickly it can become noisy and distracting. When there are too many channels, pings, and threads, important messages get buried, and people end up reacting all day instead of doing focused work.

It can also encourage an always-on communication culture, which may lead to burnout and unrealistic expectations around response times. Combine that with notification overload, messy channel sprawl, and rising costs as teams scale, and Slack can start to feel more chaotic than productive if it isn’t managed carefully.

Slack addresses the problem of fragmented team communication—emails, texts, file sharing, and meetings spread across different tools. By bringing conversations, files, and decisions into channels, it creates a single source of truth where everyone can stay up to date without digging through inboxes or tracking people down.

For me, that means collaboration is faster, more transparent, and less prone to mistakes. I can easily pull up past discussions, get the right context quickly, and keep work moving without getting stuck in long email threads or sitting through redundant meetings, which helps keep projects on track and teams aligned.
