I like that Sentinel is quick and remote, so it doesn’t have to run locally on my machine, and abstracts out any local networking issues from the mix. The Mac menu bar app keeps my alerts right front and center, and Slack alerts give me a log of when things have been occurring. It offers public status pages for clients who want to monitor their own sites. I can set each monitor to its own frequency, from a minute to as long as I want, and keep everything in one place. I also like the tools to figure out why a website is down, whether it’s edge caching routes, the server itself, or a DNS issue, so I can address issues quickly and efficiently. Setup was very easy, and the MCP integration with Claude can set up a bunch of monitors from a provided list. Sentinel does more than any single service I found before, and the developer is constantly adding new features and refining things. He’s doing a great job of it.
