## Secoda Reviews
  ### 1. Secoda offers great integration with Snowflake, dbt, Tableau for Data Cataloging and AI assistance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Surya Kant M. | Analytics Engineer III, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

The integration with Snowflake, dbt, and Tableau really acted in an immensely helpful way for us to draw the lineage and easily conduct an impact analysis on any changes. In addition to this, the questions feature and data quality checks feature helps a lot.
Lastly, the ability to document and preview the results of codes also helps in using Secoda. The customer support is fast and all our questions are answered. It's easy to use for non-technical folks with the AI feature. It's used frequently by users for data exploration.

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

Secoda is a great tool. The initial setup and understanding the flow can be different compared to other platforms but the customer support offered by Secoda really eases the implementation.

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secoda has been immensely helpful with cataloging our data and understanding the lineage. The integration with Tableau, which is a BI tool, also helps in tracking the data quality and freshness.

  ### 2. Making real progress with metadata, lineage, documentation and AI use cases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

We’ve been using Secoda to integrate metadata and lineage across our data stack and documentation tools. It’s helped bring structure to our assets, made discovery easier for the data team, and is starting to support other business units as well. Something we’re driving further through our Data Champions in each BU.

The AI features are showing strong potential.. a way to connect your company’s metadata across multiple tools with underlying data, and use AI to surface insights or diagnose issues. Still early days, but it’s heading in a promising direction.

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

Lineage detection within Snowflake sometimes doesn't get recognised or update, but usually eventually heals.

More granular / flexible access controls at a user and group level would be useful

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting lineage across multiple data platforms, centralising metadata

  ### 3. A good AI-powered data catalog with interesting and innovative features but a bit buggy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul M. | Data engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

What I like the best about Secoda is its ease of use and the great autonomy it gives the user when configuring the product. It allows you to create a data catalog that tailors your needs perfectly.
They also have interesting features, like automation and documentation templates, that make it easier to work and collaborate with your team when using the data catalog.
Finally, their AI features are exciting and they have kept improving (AI persona, ability to select which LLM to work with, observability of the actions performed by the LLM when building the answer, AI assistant on Slack) on this part so I look forward to seeing what's next. Notably, I think they should move forward in assisting on how to create relevant pre-prompts for AI personas

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

There are two main downsides in my usage of Secoda:
- First, there are too many bugs, and they often impact cool features of the product, like automation which makes it very frustrating. I reckon that their support teams are responsive and that bugs are often fixed in less than 2-3 working days, but the platform would win a lot if it increased its reliability
- Second, the system of teams is a bit complex to apprehend, especially for the nontechnical users of a company. They are struggling to seize the concept of sharing resources between teams, and the "General" team workspace ends up being the workspace for everyone
-

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Secoda, our main goal is to propose an easy to use software that gathers Snowflake, Metabase and Data platform documentation in the same place to allow our internal users to be more independent in their usage of data, notably cause we have choose to implement a self-serve approach towards data

  ### 4. Secoda enables data discovery and observability for our team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

- Lineage tracking makes it easier to unravel our spaghetti DAG and do things like impact analysis.
- Easy to setup integrations for our data stack giving us a wholistic view of our data platform.
- Secoda's AI features enable our team to self serve very efficiently.
- Customer support has always been very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

- I would like to see Secoda's data quality monitoring features enhanced more in the future. They are effective but a little bit simplistic and Id like to be able to drive more actions from them.
- minor UI bugs.

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Secoda for a number of things:
- As our data observability tool across our platform. Many users arent able to access our data warehouses but still want to be able to know what data is available and where it comes from.
- We are using Secoda to automate our data quality checks for our data products.

  ### 5. Secoda: Essential for Data Discovery

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy E. | Director of Data Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

We find the Secoda questions feature and data lineage feature to be the most helpful. With Questions, teams are able to knowledge share with eachother and save a record of the discussion. I particularly like that the question-asker can "accept" the answer.

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

I am currently finding it difficult to understand the settings on integrations that have already been set up.

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple ways our data is transformed and used in the business. Using the lineage tool, it is easier to stay organised on where metrics appear.

  ### 6. Implementation and Founder level support. Not really that useful and no early cancellation

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anil V. | CTO, Hospital & Health Care, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

It has an on premise option and the founders helped out with issues when we were early on with it. They do a good job with security and various deployment options. They do build features quickly and connect 1 on 1 with you when needed.

They have a lot of integrations and can create new ones quickly. It does have a good UI as well.

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

We started using Secoda in late 2021 and terminated in late 2024. The product was not actually useful in driving down bottom line cost or clear value. We installed and set it up but just never touched it and when we realized we asked for an accomodation that wasn't granted. One adoption challenge is when you have a large number of assets they are actually quite hard to filter which is the reason you'd want a data catalog in the first place. Make sure you actually need it or if its just another tool in your stack that doesn't drive business value and revenue for you.

If you don't you will be on the hook for your entire contract term with no allowance or accommodation. To be honest and fair we did sign an annual agreement that rolls over yearly (as most enterprises with strict security needs are required to do). However we found no one used it in over 2 years and when we reached out to cancel due to the importance of the funds and terminating it middway into year 3 or 4 the Founder himself replied that this wasn't a possibility.

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is marketed as a full stack data catalog, but performance was slow to search. Having too many tables due to DBT sprawl isn't managed effectively and ultimately it is hard to get adoption company wide so we just revert to other tools like spreadsheets where people prefer.

**Official Response from Etai Mizrahi:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience and that Secoda didn’t meet your expectations in driving value for your business. I understand how frustrating it can be when a solution doesn't deliver the impact you were hoping for.

Regarding the contract and cancellation issue, I apologize for this. I completely understand how important it is to manage budgets carefully, and I regret that we weren’t able to accommodate your request to terminate early. I have reached out via Email to do this. We strive to be flexible where possible, but I recognize that in your case, this caused frustration.

You're welcome to respond there where we can sort this out.

  ### 7. The tool for Data Governance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

It centralizes business knowledge, context, and scattered documentation in one place, connecting data assets such as dashboards, tables, views, data models, and business concepts. This makes it easy for business users to understand how everything is related and quickly find the information they need.

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

A bit difficult to get NRT syncronization

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have different places to store business, some data assets were no documented properly

  ### 8. Senior project manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Malek A. | Senior Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Secoda?**

Ease of Use
Ease of Implementation
Customer Support
Ease of Integration

**What do you dislike about Secoda?**

Having a data request form for end users or viewers will be great. That will make this tool more convenient for data management and data governance.
Having the feature of exporting search results will be very useful.
Having a connector to FHIR data elements.
Have lineage at column level
Have more data access privileges.

**What problems is Secoda solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secoda Data Catalog has been incredibly valuable for our organization, transforming how we manage and utilize our data. The platform excels at aggregating multiple data sources into one organized environment, but its capabilities go far beyond just data collection.
Secoda impresses with its comprehensive approach to data knowledge management. It enables us to document and access detailed data lineages, glossaries, and specific queries used for various purposes. This ensures that all the knowledge surrounding our data is consolidated in one place, making it easier for our team to understand, use, and manage our data assets.
Additionally, Secoda offers advanced tagging capabilities, allowing us to categorize data elements based on specific projects or governance requirements. This tagging system has optimized our workflows and ensured that relevant data is easily accessible for any given context.
We are very excited about using Secoda as a central hub for all data requests. All data requests will go through the platform to our data governance team. This will help us have better oversight and approval processes and improve our data quality measurements. By using Secoda as the sole point of contact, we aim to uphold high data integrity and governance standards across the organization.
Overall, Secoda Data Catalog has significantly improved our data management practices. It centralizes data sources, enhances knowledge documentation, and supports robust governance and quality assurance processes. This tool is essential for our data strategy, ensuring that we maximize the value and integrity of our data assets.
