## SAS Enterprise Guide Reviews
 ### 1. Versatile Tool with Room for UI Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alec E. | Founder, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I like that SAS Enterprise Guide connects pretty easily, and it's pretty quick at getting you in. We have multiple SAS environments, and it makes it easy using the profiles to switch between them. Using SAS tasks or the import wizard to transfer the final product or source data up to the unit server from NAS shares and local file systems is something I can't do in other tools, and the right-click exports are also helpful.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I find it hard to interrupt the job in SAS Enterprise Guide, and it's just not as fast as SAS Studio. They could modernize the UI to make tasks and copy files more elegant and streamlined. People don't really get what the copy files task is capable of, and they don't find the share objects feature very intuitive. It could be better to define those things in your workflows. Also, it would be more helpful if SAS Enterprise Guide had a better integrated SQL tool and was better at understanding layout and providing suggestions to optimize data access.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAS Enterprise Guide to transfer final product data to unit servers, which I can't do with other tools. It's really helpful for file transfers within workflows.

 ### 2. Efficient in Data Management, but with Slow Servers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elisa L. | Consultant Data&AI, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I find the query builder an extremely effective tool because it allows for quick and intuitive exploration and analysis of tables, facilitating the generation of well-structured SQL queries often already accompanied by comments useful for understanding. This significantly reduces development time and helps keep the code tidy and readable.

Moreover, SAS Enterprise Guide offers a very clear and organized management of libraries, allowing easy navigation between available datasets and resources. The creation of programs is simple and fast, thanks to a user-friendly interface that supports both rapid development activities and more structured operations.

Overall, the user experience is very positive: the tool proves to be stable, efficient, and well-designed. Even the initial installation phase was surprisingly quick and free of complications, making the start of operational activities immediate.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Despite its numerous strengths, SAS Enterprise Guide has some performance issues. In particular, the servers are sometimes slow in reading and extracting data, especially with large datasets or complex queries. This slows down the workflow and makes some operations less smooth, affecting productivity, especially in contexts with multiple users or intensive use.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAS Enterprise Guide allows me to view all libraries clearly and to create programs easily, simplifying the management and organization of data. This reduces the time needed to navigate complex datasets and minimizes the risk of operational errors. I particularly appreciate the query builder, because it allows for quick analysis of tables and the generation of structured and often already commented SQL queries. This helps me avoid repetitive manual tasks, speeds up development, and improves code readability, making maintenance and collaboration with colleagues easier. Overall, the tool allows me to work more efficiently, reducing analysis time and increasing productivity, especially during the data exploration and preparation phases.

 ### 3. Dynamic and User-Friendly with Robust Performance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles A. | President, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I use SAS Enterprise Guide for creating automated financial reporting. It solves the problem of connecting to various platforms and sources like Teradata, Snowflake, Excel files, Hadoop, etc., and allows for outputting in various formats. I find it simple to use yet very dynamic for allowing robust development and efficient processing. I appreciate the simple layout and the good support. Its performance is good, offering fast performance and reliable connectivity. SAS Enterprise Guide allows for both simple/fast reporting and analysis, along with more thoroughly developed solutions and robust analysis.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Several things: the scroll bars in SAS Enterprise Guide 8.5 and 8.6 are too small--they are easy to miss with the mouse. Also, the default for displaying 500 items within a folder or library. There should be an option within SAS Enterprise Guide to modify that. Currently an admin can, but it would be nice if it would be configured by an individual developer to specify the number of items they want displayed, or whether the options will show 'show 500 more' vs. 'show all'. If it would be possible for SAS 9, one idea hugely helpful would be to use Python with SAS Enterprise Guide, without modernizing to SAS Viya.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAS Enterprise Guide for creating automated financial reporting. It solves problems of connecting to various platforms like Teradata and Excel, and allows outputting in different formats.

 ### 4. Versatile, Efficient, and Enjoyable—A Semi-GUI That Makes Work Painless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I like how versatile it is! It allows me to program in any language that I want, even going from one language to the next to improve efficiency. It also allows me to use a semi-GUI interface so that I don't have to code everything that I need to find. I use all of these functions together to make my work quick, painless and enjoyable.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Nothing. Please continue to provide this service for at least the next 10 years (I retire then, LOL).

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work in the Public Education Sector and it has been an integral part in helping to provide assessment analytics in new and differing ways to meet the evolving needs of the teachers and administrators that I serve. It has provided a means of making these data palatable so that non-data-minded folks are now hungry for the data.

 ### 5. Efficient Process Flows and Reusable Code Make SAS Enterprise Guide Stand Out

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sunanda c. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I find the process flow in SAS Enterprise Guide to be really good. I also appreciate the project creation feature, as it creates code which we can reuse. It helps us generate unique records and use the code provided effectively. The initial setup of SAS Enterprise Guide was very easy.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Once the data step is run and a dataset is created, if I run another data step, the previous dataset is erased. This is a little problem, although it gets stored in libraries.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAS Enterprise Guide to generate TLFs and check programming issues. The process flow is helpful, and project creation allows us to reuse code efficiently, generating unique records.

 ### 6. Quick Access But Needs Performance Boost

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajesh J. | Manager, Statistical data Sciences Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I like that SAS Enterprise Guide makes things easy for us by allowing quick access to the SaaS dataset and raw datasets. Literally, we can access it on a PC in less than a minute, which is the most beautiful thing about it.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

It takes a lot of time for rerunning or running some programs. It's not better than SAS Studio, at least for running through SAS Enterprise Guide. If you run some program that contains a lot of data and modulations, it would take at least four or five minutes to run.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAS Enterprise Guide makes accessing datasets and working easy for us, providing quick access to SaaS and raw datasets.

 ### 7. Intuitive Process Flows, Needs Better Scalability

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magnus Settemsli M. | Engineering Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I love the process flows in SAS Enterprise Guide, which allow me to arrange processes the way they should be executed. It's easy for me to get into the code blocks for updates and adjustments. The initial setup was super easy since I wasn't involved in the implementation.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I find the integration of new features like SAS Copilot and AI to be a drawback. It's not as scalable as the Viya Cliod app.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAS Enterprise Guide for data analytics, staging complex data inputs into digestible aggregations. I love the process flows that let me arrange processes efficiently and easily update code blocks.

 ### 8. Easy Code Highlighting and Object Exploration in SAS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian T. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

The most useful feature part of SAS is able to highlight specific chunks of code and run it. I’m able to see all of my objects and look into columns or examples.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I don’t like the logs as much and wish there was more customizations of the appearance of the log.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAS EG is serving as my tool to transform my data. It's well organized in various steps and breaks up a big chunk of my transformation into 5-6 insightful steps. It allows me to easily pass through the document to somebody else to execute my code.

 ### 9. Point-and-Click SQL That Saves Me Tons of Time

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I love it that I can get sql code created for me by just pointing and clicking. Saves me a lot of time to not have to think about how to do it or look up the fields that exist in the tables.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Some features I know exist like the summary and freq but I don't know how to use them. Also, there's stuff that I can code but don't know how to do it in enterprise guide using the gui. Wish there was more documentation or examples to follow.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that I can quickly see what types of data I have in my tables and can easily see erroneous data when I need to or just see what types of data exist in the tables I am looking at.

 ### 10. Empowerment in a Box: Astounding Capabilities for Every Skill Level

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

It is EMPOWERMENT in a box! The capabilities are astounding. There are SO many workflows, dataflows and statistical offerings.... And it meets the User at THEIR skill level (GUI user, programmer, advanced statistics). And the SAS Technical Support Top-Tier. They've helped through more than issue, in a VERY timely fashion.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I wish it more fully aligned with SAS Studio, but SAS is working hard at that!

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It empowers the user to do everything that their local I/S shop is too busy to do.
