In this case, I used SAP IBP in order to align the process of demand, supply, and inventory planning in various workgroups. Almost all of my activities were associated with planning runs evaluation, analyzing the differences between forecasts and reality, and verifying any changes in demand and supply planning parameters. The feature that caught my attention here is the rapid recalculation of any changed scenario parameters. In fact, when performing planning review activities, I had the opportunity to use the latest data on demand or supply and see how they would impact the overall inventory calculation results. Sometimes, the planning process may become complicated by various planning models and stakeholders. Initially, much time can be needed to learn how the planning areas and data inputs interact. Furthermore, solving problems related to planning discrepancies may need exploring various layers of configurations and data inputs. What problems is SAP Integrated Business Planning solving and how is that benefiting you? Prior to SAP IBP, the supply chain process would have been conducted via fragmented use of spreadsheets and disparate applications used for forecasting the demand and inventory plans, making coordination between groups difficult. SAP IBP made the planning process much more centralized and scenario-based. In effect, this allowed greater transparency in both the supply chain and demand management, while reducing any reconciliations between planning versions during the process.
