"Unified SAP Analytics and Planning, with Some Performance Trade-Offs"
4/5
What do you like best about SAP Analytics Cloud?

I like having business intelligence, predictive forecasting, and planning in one platform, especially since we work heavily in the SAP ecosystem. The live data connection is a game changer: queries run directly on the source system, so we don’t have to replicate large volumes of data, and existing authorizations, analytical privileges, and row-level security carry over to dashboards automatically. I also value the built-in enterprise planning and version management. Finance can create private what-if forecast scenarios without touching public actuals, and automated data actions and allocations take minutes instead of manual spreadsheet consolidation and distribution. Collaborative planning lets our finance and operations teams work against the same numbers. I appreciate the augmented analytics, including Smart Insights and Smart Predict, and natural-language querying, which lets executives ask business questions and get a visual without waiting for a BI developer. The unified story design works well for us too: business users can build with drag and drop, while developers can use custom scripts, conditional styling, and responsive layout containers. SAP Analytics Cloud has helped us create a single source of truth across operations and finance, gives leadership real-time visibility into actual versus budget, and cut our monthly reporting turnaround by roughly 30 to 40%. Our analysts can spend more time interpreting trends instead of compiling data. Basic user roles and initial story shells were fast and straightforward to set up, and day-to-day deployment became smooth once our infrastructure and security were in place. What do you dislike about SAP Analytics Cloud?

I find that complex stories with multiple widgets can have noticeable rendering delays if the underlying data models or views aren’t finely tuned. SAP Analytics Cloud also requires the data modeling and heavy lifting to happen upstream. The story design canvas has a learning curve, and highly customized, pixel-perfect styling or non-standard chart behavior can feel rigid compared with Power BI or Tableau. Setting up enterprise live data connections also took technical coordination; getting the initial connections running securely wasn’t plug and play. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
