We sell to customers across a dozen countries, and before this everyone had to dial one US number regardless of where they were, meaning some customers straight up avoided calling because of what it cost them internationally. Setting up International Virtual Numbers gave customers in our biggest markets a local number to dial instead, so a customer in the UK is calling a UK number at UK rates, not paying to ring the US. Call volume from a couple of those regions actually went up once the cost barrier disappeared, we hadn't realized how many people were just emailing instead because calling felt too expensive from their end. The automated callback feature offering to call customers back instead of holding is great in theory but the callback sometimes lands during a time zone where that customer's clearly not awake, since it doesn't account for local hours automatically, we had to explain that to a few confused overnight callbacks before adjusting the settings manually per region.
