**What do you like best about Revit?**

I like that building a 3D model enables you to generate relevant views from the model and that they are live updated when changes to the model occur. I appreciate that I can visualize any part of a project with the model, which helps clarify where critical drawings or views will support the client and contractors' understanding of the design intent. It's beneficial that drawings are all live updated when the model changes, helping to avoid missing updates that would have to be made manually if using a 2D CAD system. I like that the 3D model and documents are one in the same.

**What do you dislike about Revit?**

I wish there was a better library of included hatch patterns and materials. I find that material rendering is something I have to spend much more time than I'd like to enable accurate rendering outputs. Certain materials are difficult to rotate, particularly if they are a part of a component, rather than 'painted' into the model. The material and hatch library just feel very limited, which requires trying to custom generate or find other materials to bring in which can get messy. Creating your own templates and knowing how to customize certain features to create useful outputs/data within a model can get very complicated if you're not quite savvy.

**What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that building a 3D model in Revit enables me to generate relevant views that are live-updated with model changes, avoiding manual updates required by 2D CAD systems. This helps clarify design intent for clients and contractors.

What stands out most about Revit isn’t just one feature—it’s how everything is connected. The biggest strength is that it’s fully parametric and model-based, which changes how you think about design.

A lot of tools aren’t where you expect them to be, and some workflows only make sense after you’ve been burned a few times. Things like families, work sets, and view control can confuse even experienced users.

Parametric Intelligence: Unlike Rhino, everything in Revit is interconnected. If you change a window’s height in a 3D view, it updates instantly in the floor plans, elevations, and schedules.

The "Revit Way": It is extremely picky. If you don't follow its strict logic for families or hosting, you’ll spend hours fighting the software just to place a simple element.

The best software, I explored. Which can do Modeling, Overview, Coordination, Documentation & Extracting Quantities. I use dthis software from past 13+ years. Major queries can be adressed by the support & Editorial teams. Very easy to install.

Often small things and Details are pretty easy in Auto CAD. Later they can be imported to Revit as Details.

**What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major coordination is the modeling and cross verification with the MEP model. Thus major issues can be resolved by the time of modeling itself.

**What do you like best about Revit?**

I use Revit for engineering and designing, especially in sketch form. I appreciate its 3D feature, which has three-dimensional compatibility that helps in identifying if my work is clashing with architectural properties or other services like plumbing pipes and electrical wires. Revit helps me visualize how the work can move and aids in the coordination process, converting to PDF format for our company's engineering work.

**What do you dislike about Revit?**

Sometimes Revit takes too much power from the CPU, especially when the Internet speed is low. Handling large models around 200, 500 MB, or one GB can take too much time compared to smaller ones under 100 MB. The initial setup can sometimes be challenging due to internet space and the size of Revit, but it's not too difficult.

I use Revit for engineering and design, notably for 3D coordination in converting to PDF. It helps identify clashes with architectural elements and other utilities within a 3D space.

I have been using Revit for over 17 years now and use it on my daily basis for all the architectural work we do. I like the potency of the tool and how easy and intuitive it becomes after you get the hang of it.

The complexity in some of the tasks that should be easy to do or that for instance you can do in other Autodesk software that do not translate into Revit as smooth. Managing large and complex projects is also a challenge that requires careful planning and managing throughout the projects' lifecycle.

It can get slow with some larger models, and because of that, the overall experience can feel limited at times.

I use Revit for Building Information Modeling, and I like its parametric modeling where every element—walls, doors, beams, or ducts—has embedded parameters defining their behavior and relationships. One of Revit's biggest advantages is that it treats the entire model as a single, data-rich database. Every component carries its own parameters such as dimensions, materials, costs, and performance data, which can be extracted into schedules or exported to external tools without losing accuracy. Revit's centralized data management ensures that all drawings, schedules, and quantities stay automatically synchronized, greatly improving accuracy and coordination across disciplines. The initial setup of Revit was straightforward, especially with Autodesk Account licensing.

**What do you dislike about Revit?**

It performs well overall, but large models can become slow and resource-intensive. File sizes grow quickly, and collaboration across disciplines can suffer from sync delays. Improved performance optimization, faster rendering, and better interoperability with non-Autodesk tools would make it even more efficient. Beyond performance and interoperability, Revit could benefit from more flexible modeling tools for complex geometry and facades systems, which currently require workarounds or Dynamo scripts.

**What do you like best about Revit?**

I use Revit for architectural design and it helps me solve several key challenges. It allows me to create accurate 3D models and automatically generates plans, sections, and elevations. What I like most about Revit is the BIM-based workflow. Being able to work in a single coordinated 3D model and have all drawings update automatically when changes are made is a huge advantage. Revit is boundless and with its ability to embed a broad of array logic with the use of parametric processes, we can crate and extrapolate information simply and quickly. The interface is very intuitive and having used other Autodesk products in the past, found the transition very easy. I also love that Autodesk are continually maintaining and debugging its software.

**What do you dislike about Revit?**

The cost. With the platform moving onto a more subscription based setup, we have found that in order to make benefit of the money laid out for the software, we are almost frce, by virtue, to install each new version every year. In a good proportion of our workstream this is unnecessary.

The extrapolation and access to information by simply implementing parametric logic and schedules.

What I like the most Is the tool bar because its simple and easy to find the function that I need. I love the section box  function because literally I can see any section of my 3D model.

it's almost too powerful for it's own good. It's also not as friendly for people such as designers, but rather built more for an architect

**What do you like best about Revit?**

I find Revit extremely valuable for my work, particularly in mechanical and electrical designing tasks. I enjoy using Revit because of its three-dimensional designing capability, which is incredibly useful for visualizing designs in real life. This feature provides a significant advantage over using traditional 2D designs in AutoCAD, making it much better for imagining how projects will look in the future. I appreciate the availability of plugins, such as ELUM tools for lighting design and built-in tools for mechanical design like duct sizing, which simplify tasks and ensure automatic calculations, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in my projects. Learning to use Revit was a smooth and quick process for me, thanks to resources available on YouTube and LinkedIn Learning, which helped me overcome initial challenges such as linking files and models. The ability to adapt quickly after understanding the workflow and features speaks to Revit's intuitive design, which I greatly appreciate. These aspects of Revit are so beneficial that they ensure I would definitely purchase it again in the future. I am also very likely to recommend Revit to others, rating it a perfect 10 out of 10.

It's a very good tool for incorporating sustainability aspects and complete information modeling, making it very valuable for us.

There isn't really anything specific that doesn't work well, but we keep giving frequent feedbacks. The yearly versions are helpful, but they sometimes don't incorporate all feedback.

What I like most about Revit is that it uses BIM, which helps create smart 3D models that update automatically in all drawings and schedules. While I love Revit, it can feel rigid when trying to customize workflows outside of its default structure. Some features — like managing line weights or graphics — still require too many manual steps or lack visual clarity. Performance can also become an issue with large files or many links. The best part is, we can integrate it with lots of add-ins and other supporting software like Dynamo, Enscape, etc.
 It is ease to produce accurate plans, sections and elevations. 
Also, ease to insert the links of CAD files, IFC and other files.
The best part is we can work together in a single file with our colleagues using worksharing.
We can create automation using dynamo and API for repetitive works.
Ease to implement BIM when compared to other software.

Sometimes I face force close of Revit software due to large file size.
Sometimes , It take more time to open the model.
We have some limitation to create conceptual designs.
Some people need some time to learn.

The first thing is, It reduces the modelling time compared to traditional CAD software. When we create some element, It create both 2D and 3D. It saves the time to create 3D model separately.

And also I can coordinate the vertical routes in common areas since the beginning, and most importantly define the mounting height or necessary space of every system.

Revit is a truly amazing program for modeling construction projects. For users, it is very easy to use, and the integration is done really well by transferring the old CAD standards of companies to the new BIM technologies. The learning curve of the program is highly progressive due to the need to use it every day, which facilitates its implementation in companies that are starting to use it. The number of options available in this tool is very good, allowing us to model most of the disciplines involved in building construction without any problems.

What I like least about the program is that the appearance of mechanical elements such as ventilation ducts and plumbing channels cannot be modeled according to manufacturing standards regarding the length of the elements that are part of a mechanical network.

The biggest problem solved with the use of Revit is the coordination between the different project disciplines.
