What do you like best about Retail Cloud Connect?

We run HealthPost, a New Zealand natural health retailer with thousands of products on Shopify. Retail Cloud Connect hooks our store up to Google's AI Commerce Search (formerly Vertex AI Search for commerce), and both the results and the performance have been a huge step up on what we had before. It copes well with the way people actually search and maps accurately to user intent, including handling typos and synonyms effectively.

Results are personalised to each shopper based on how they browse and buy, and ranking can be optimised for revenue rather than relevance alone. So the products most likely to sell rise to the top without anyone hand-sorting thousands of products.

The support is a total standout. Seb (co-founder) comes from Google Cloud and knows both the search technology and Shopify inside out. Questions get helpful, detailed answers fast. We had some unusual requirements and the team worked through them with us with ease rather than ever telling us what their product couldn't do.

We also like that it runs in our own Google Cloud account, so the data and settings stay ours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retail Cloud Connect?

Not much at all. Some of the deeper settings live in Google Cloud rather than in Shopify, so it helps to have someone on the team who's comfortable there, but it quickly made sense to us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Retail Cloud Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?

We moved HealthPost to Shopify in early 2026 and needed site search that could handle a big catalogue where the detail matters. Some customers know exactly which brand and strength they want, others are searching by need, and some are beginning to type in long form and 'conversational' type queries. We also sell in a regulated category, so some health terms need careful handling in search. Nimstrata gave us enterprise-level search with superb accuracy, and granular control without needing search engineers of our own, which matters for a small team.

The roadmap is the other reason we're glad we picked them. What Seb has shared about conversational search, where shoppers describe what they need in plain language and get guided to the right product, sounds like a real step forward.
