Both individual .NET developers and teams rely on ReSharper to write and maintain code in a more manageable and enjoyable way, adopt the best coding practices, and deliver higher quality applications faster. ## ReSharper Reviews ### 1. It's also great at detecting code smells and a simple "Ctrl + ." Usually provides an accurate solution to fix it **What do you dislike about ReSharper?** It is quite expensive to use but definitely worth getting if you're programming day to day or work in the software development industry **What problems is ReSharper solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do forget some minor details when programming. E.g. making something static or read-only or even removing commented out code ### 2. Extends your capabilities. Easy to use and work with. Highlights in my use are Code completion, Unit testing, refactoring, formating , extending existing IntelliSense and templates. All this allows you to code at a faster pace with more feedback. **What do you dislike about ReSharper?** It can be very confusing to configure since there are so many options available. The biggest i would say though is performance impact with visual studio since it indexes a whole project. **Recommendations to others considering ReSharper:** It takes a lot of time to learn how leverage all the features of resharper and which one work best for your projects. Microsoft has added a lot of the feature that ReSharper has but Resharpers version is more robust. There really isnt any alternative to ReSharper to the best of my knowledge. **What problems is ReSharper solving and how is that benefiting you?** ReSharper rounds out Visual Studio with functionality and features. I wouldn't say it solves problems but rather it makes writing code smoother and more productive. I dont remember which ReSharper version I started with but it has gotten better and better. ### 4. You can refactor code with available shortcuts. There're other features as well like you can check the code coverage of the unit test. Also, the build performed by ReSharper is quick as it only builds projects that've been modified since last build. **What do you dislike about ReSharper?** My machine isn't that powerful. But, it's still an average machine with i5 processor and fast SSD along with quite a good amount of RAM. But, enabling the ReSharper makes my Visual Studio respond slow and I notice some lag at times. **Recommendations to others considering ReSharper:** ReSharper is a great tool to boost up your productivity. But, before you decide to buy the license, check out VS 2022 first. A lot of the features have been provided natively in VS 2022. **What problems is ReSharper solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is boosting our development workflow speed. ### 5. Code Refactoring feature works like charm. 2. Code quality, specifically null checks etc 3. Conversion of foreach loops to Linq and conversion of code snippets to particular new method creation and move the method to specific class file will be just one click process using Resharper. **What do you dislike about ReSharper?** 1. Sometimes need some manual intervention if it converts some complex logic to Linq code, sometimes it converts the wrong conversion, apart from those small points everything works fine. 2. Also the quality of support from JetBrains can be improved. **Recommendations to others considering ReSharper:** Please use this in your VS extension and it will make your life easy. **What problems is ReSharper solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. Code refactoring and code quality check out of box feature helps in avoiding unwanted error and helps in rapid application development. 2. I usually do code reviews of peers, it helps me in giving reviews sometimes. ### 6. Also it's very much configurable on code validation and suggestions features. I have used few more tools for code optimization and found ReSharper most light weight out of all. **What do you dislike about ReSharper?** I think pricing for individuals or personal level was high so I couldn't continue after trial period expired.
