postgres db snapshort and diff generate and schema compare Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest challenge for me is the learning curve. Establishing a solid baseline on an older database with years of manual changes took more effort than I expected, and the documentation doesn’t always address those messy, real-world scenarios. The Postgres experience also feels less polished than SQL Server.
I’ve also found that the generated scripts often need manual cleanup before they’re safe to run, so I still review every script by hand. On top of that, licensing gets expensive as the number of environments grows, which is tough to justify when you’re supporting many clients. Finally, when people make changes directly in a database outside the pipeline, drift becomes a constant headache, and it takes real team discipline to prevent it.
