**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

I really appreciate Red Hat OpenShift for its strong security features. It delivers security by default through restricted security policies and non-root containers, which reduce risk without requiring extra setup. The RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) model is clear and practical, making it easy to control who can deploy, manage, or access resources and clearly separate admin, DevOps, and developer responsibilities. We use OpenShift on a daily basis for running and managing production workloads, and features like automated scaling, rolling updates, health checks, and image scanning help us meet enterprise security and compliance needs. While the initial setup requires Kubernetes knowledge, the guided installation, good documentation, and Red Hat support make implementation manageable. Overall, it feels like a secure, well-governed platform that still keeps things simple for our team.

**What do you like best about Red Hat Quay?**

I find Red Hat Quay especially useful for managing images across teams and environments. I really appreciate is how well it supports team collaboration. The role-based access control works very well, making it easy to define who can push, pull, or manage images, which helps maintain accountability and prevents accidental changes. The built-in image scanning and security features are particularly valuable as they help identify vulnerabilities early. I also like how smoothly Red Hat Quay integrates with Kubernetes and OpenShift environments. This tight integration makes CI/CD pipelines more reliable and predictable since images can be automatically pulled and deployed without extra configuration. It fits naturally into cloud-native workflows and supports automation without adding unnecessary overhead. Proper tuning is often needed to ensure smooth performance at scale, which may require additional operational effort. One common challenge is storage and backend performance. Since container images and metadata can grow quickly, the underlying storage system needs to be well-optimized. If storage isn’t configured correctly or scaled in advance, it can impact image availability and response times. Better built-in guidance or recommendations during setup—based on expected image volume and usage—would help prevent these issues early on. Configuring everything properly for real-world use took additional time.

Red Hat Quay manages container images securely and organizes them, solving image sprawl and lack of control. It centralizes image management, ensuring visibility and structure, while providing image scanning to identify vulnerabilities early on.

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

What I appreciate most about OpenShift is that it serves as an advanced, out-of-the-box solution for monitoring our Kubernetes cluster. The range of options available for managing and viewing information is extensive, and the interface is very straightforward to use.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

One aspect I dislike about Openshift is that it does not offer straightforward support for ingress. Instead, it uses what it calls "routers," which are essentially just HA Proxy processes. I am not sure about SSO integration of Openshift, but it should be available.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my opinion, OpenShift has greatly streamlined the container orchestration process for Kubernetes. Few products offer the same combination of detail and user-friendly experience that OpenShift provides.

It’s Kubernetes… plus a lot of Red Hat opinions. OpenShift’s guardrails are great... until they aren’t.

This product is not for all customers. The customer need a lot expertise to understand the configuration.

The network is neutron, and that product need troubleshooting to fix the communication.

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The sky is the limit with OCP. When i first started with containerization I was very lost until i started working in Open shift. I went from knowing nothing to being a Open shift administrator within a few months. Now we manage over 20 clusters worldwide and continue to grow! There are so many great resources available to learn and can be applied to both kuberenetes and Open shift as they are very similar.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Steep learning curve, it tools months to get proficient but once you understand the technology it just works.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provide developers a great tool to design and build software without having to worry about the underlying technology. Also the build capabilities for containers make it a great tool for managing container builds and storing within the cluster internal registry.
