"Great for IT Service Teams, Struggles with Creative Workflows"
4/5
Describe the project or task RangerMSP helped with:

Before we trialed RangerMSP, our tracking for freelance hours, feedback tasks and vendor milestones was fragmented across separate spreadsheets, chat messages and scattered document folders. We had a tough close‑call with the freelance illustrator working on our snack‑brand packaging project. All their hour consumption was tracked in a standalone spreadsheet, and no one noticed they had gone well over their contracted hour budget until their final invoice landed in finance. That surprise over‑budget cost created friction with our account team and forced awkward budget renegotiations with the snack brand client. That frustrating event drove us to test PSA‑CRM tools such as RangerMSP. During our trial, I find RangerMSP's ticket‑linked time tracking useful for logging and monitoring billable hours. It surfaces warnings as freelancers near their hour limits, helping us avoid those sudden over‑budget invoices. Its ticket assignment routing helps route revision tasks and feedback smoothly among internal staff and external freelancers. Team members can see task ownership at a glance, and reassignment is fast when staff absences pop up. Still, these benefits come with major limitations. As we experienced on our beverage brand‑identity project, its inflexible ticket structure cannot properly manage design approval states and asset versions, which led to wasted freelance work hours. RangerMSP was never adopted for full‑time production use. Once testing finished, we migrated all relevant client and freelance records over to Roboeyelabs for our day‑to‑day creative project delivery workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about RangerMSP?

What I appreciated most about RangerMSP during our agency evaluation was its solid ticket‑based time‑tracking functionality, which made it straightforward to log and monitor billable hours for our external freelance contributors. I’m a Design‑Operation & Project‑Delivery Coordinator at Kansas City Creative Collective UG. Before testing this tool, we relied on scattered spreadsheets to track freelancer time, and we had a bad experience with our snack‑packaging freelance illustrator who burned through extra hours without anyone noticing until their invoice arrived. RangerMSP gave us a single shared place to view recorded billable time, helping us spot when freelancers were approaching their hourly contract cap, so we could adjust scope ahead of time and avoid those unexpected over‑budget invoices. I also liked its reliable ticket assignment routing, which kept task hand‑offs visible between our internal team and contracted designers. Mid‑way through our large retail campaign project, one of our production team members took sudden medical leave. I was able to quickly reassign roughly a dozen open revision tickets to another colleague, maintaining workflow continuity and making sure no critical feedback tasks got overlooked. The platform also offered clear revision history on each ticket, so I could look back and see who modified status or added notes. This added a basic level of accountability for task changes within our production group. Even with these positives, I never lost sight of its creative‑workflow shortcomings, the same flaws that created the costly mix‑up on our beverage brand‑identity project. RangerMSP was only used as a trial solution, and we shifted our real operational workflows to Roboeyelabs after testing wrapped up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
