"Power Query Transformed Our Finance Reporting with Fast, User-Friendly Automation"

What do you like best about Power Query?

I use Power Query daily in my role in finance, and it has been a gamechanger for our reporting processes. It allows us to seamlessly extract data from our ERP system, clean and transform it, and create meaningful reports and interactive dashboards for managers and executives.

What I particularly like is how user-friendly it is. You don't need coding experience to get started, yet it offers powerful functionality for more complex data transformations. We've been able to automate previously manual, time-consuming processes, significantly improving efficiency, accuracy and consistency across our reporting.

One of the biggest benefits has been the ability to turn large volumes of raw data into valuable business insights, while freeing up time for more meaningful analysis rather than repetitive data preparation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Power Query?

The only significant challenge I've experienced with Power Query is performance when working with very large datasets or refreshing multiple complex queries, which can sometimes be quite slow.

However, I've found that using AI to troubleshoot issues, identify inefficiencies and optimise query steps has helped improve performance considerably.

What problems is Power Query solving and how is that benefiting you?

Power Query has significantly reduced the amount of manual data processing required across our finance team. We use it in most of our finance processes, from extracting and transforming ERP data to automating reconciliations, reporting and management dashboards.

By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining complex data transformations, we've improved the efficiency, accuracy and consistency of our reporting. This has freed up valuable time for our team to focus on more meaningful, value-added activities such as financial analysis, identifying trends and providing insights to support business decisions.
