**What do you like best about PostHog?**

I appreciate that PostHog meets our basic needs for generating heatmaps. Even though there are not many standout features we need right now, it effectively provides the insights we require about application usage. I value how it enables understanding of which areas of our app are utilized the most, fulfilling its primary purpose efficiently.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The integration setup with PostHog was very rough around the edges, which made the initial setup process not easy. There was confusion about whether I could have multiple environments under a single API key. Apparently there was an announcement that you could, but then that was quietly removed. The heatmaps feature being in beta demonstrated some instability or incomplete elements. The dashboard UI included distracting touches like a desktop imitation complete with a screensaver, which I found annoying. The product appeared to be heavily targeted at sales and marketing, but the developer documentation was neither easy to find nor as comprehensive as I would prefer. The projected billing for the first month seemed quite high for what was being offered, causing concern. I figured out in time to turn off autocapture, a feature apparently not necessary for heatmaps, but I'm not sure it'll still be worth the cost

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

I appreciate that PostHog is an all-in-one solution which significantly suits our company needs. The fact that PostHog is self-hostable stands out as a huge advantage for us, especially since it allows us to retain user session recordings that we previously lost due to our past integration being blockable. I find the capability of using PostHog alongside other tools like Datadog for logs to be really beneficial, integrating seamlessly into our existing setup. Despite the slightly more technical initial setup due to the self-hosting, the benefits far outweigh this minor inconvenience. Overall, it's perfect for our use case, and I am fully satisfied with its performance, so much so that I would highly recommend it to others.

I use PostHog primarily for capturing recordings of sessions from the users of our apps and websites, which is invaluable. This feature is incredibly useful for identifying bugs we might otherwise miss. The session recording in PostHog is the best I've seen in any product, providing a clearer picture compared to others I've tried. It is easy to build reports by integrating pipeline data from an SQL database with interaction events, which brings even more value as we can demonstrate to staff how users engage with our software. I appreciate PostHog's user-friendly data analytics, which doesn't require me to have advanced technical knowledge to create funnels effectively. The availability of several pre-built templates that work great out of the box is a huge plus, making it easy to set up and derive insights quickly. PostHog excels with features like automatic events, heatmaps, and screen tracking, which are invaluable for understanding user journeys and conversion metrics, especially given our startup's small team size. I really enjoy that I don't need to invest significant time connecting various products, unlike my frustrating experience with Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager. Additionally, the screen recordings feature is particularly crucial at our early stage, helping us gather user insights efficiently. The initial setup was incredibly easy, saving us time and reducing the learning curve. All of these elements come together making PostHog a compelling tool that I can confidently recommend to others, rating it a solid 10 on whether I'd suggest it to friends or colleagues.

I find tremendous value in using PostHog to track user behavior and error reporting on my website. It offers me a profound understanding of how users interact with the site and highlights where errors occur, specifically issues I might not have detected on my own machine, such as styling problems. The Session replay (recordings) feature is particularly outstanding as it provides clear insights into user activity on the website. This feature has allowed me to observe how users navigate through the checkout funnel, which inspired me to redesign it for a more user-friendly experience. The ease of the initial setup of PostHog is another positive aspect I appreciate. Additionally, I am very fond of their homepage and am enthusiastic enough to have already shared it with my colleagues. I find the UI and logo of PostHog very cute, which enhances my overall user experience. I also appreciate the availability of many products within PostHog that I can use together, providing me with a cohesive toolset for my analytics needs. Additionally, I found the initial setup of PostHog pretty easy, which made onboarding with the software a smooth process.

I find connecting PostHog with Snowflake to be problematic. Despite multiple attempts, the warehouse connection often fails due to errors. The errors I encounter lack clear explanations, making troubleshooting difficult. Even after successfully establishing a connection, the import process fails repeatedly, which is frustrating.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

The best thing about PostHog is it's ability to automatically collect the majority of relevant analytics information without having to manually identify each event/item of interest. This is not the case with the main player in the space, Google Analytics.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I dislike that we were not able to add domain whitelisting on our plan without paying for the additional cost of a proxy. While the free tier is quite generous, the very first paid tier is not accessible to early bootstrapped projects at $250.00/month.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With very little effort, we have been able to migrate away from Google Analytics. Our pain-point with Google Analytics is that we needed to implement the capture of analytics events and items in a manual way. This means that any new additions to our web app, we needed to consider all of the analytics implications and build it in. Posthog solves this with their ability to automatically capture the majority of the events and items that we're interested in immediately, including the console logs as well.

PostHog provides powerful analytics without requiring enterprise-level infrastructure. The self-serve setup means we could start tracking user behavior immediately. For a small team building multiple B2B SaaS products, having one analytics platform that scales with us is valuable.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

Dashboard organization could be more intuitive. Getting the right metrics visible at a glance requires trial and error with the interface. For quick product decisions, we're still figuring out how to structure dashboards so key signals surface without digging through multiple views.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed consolidated product analytics without enterprise pricing or complex implementation. PostHog gives us user behavior data, feature usage tracking, and funnel analysis in one place. This means faster iteration on product decisions because we're not waiting on engineers to pull data or paying for multiple tools. For a two-person team managing several products, this operational efficiency is critical.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

Ease of configuration. It's super easy to set up and the documentation is very detailed. I like how easy it is to mask out sensitive parts of the application. Quality-of-life features like screen recordings on web recording the mouse position are very helpful.

The free tier is very generous which was the main reason we decided to use PostHog over one of the alternatives.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

There are one or two pieces of ambiguous/poorly documented behaviour. In particular we had an issue in a flutter app where the content of webviews isn't captured by screen recordings. This led us down a bit of a rabbithole trying to figure out why the webview wasn't rendering for our users before we realised the feature was working fine, it just wasn't being captured by PostHog.

It's a bit of a shame that the Surveys feature isn't supported on flutter on Android.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mostly use session replay and error tracking.

PostHog has helped us pass App Store review --- in particular Apple app reviews can be a frustrating and opaque process when the reviewer runs into an issue or bug and does not provide much detail, PostHog was a lifesaver to see what went wrong.

We have a small number of non-technical users who often submit vague or ambiguous bug reports to us, and session replay allows us to debug them, or to detect when there are unintuitive pieces of our UI causing user error.

I really enjoy that they have such a generous free tier.
And they are so much simpler to figure out than Google Analytics.
Great documentation, too, and the AI text bot is a great addition as well.

I've only been using PostHog for less than a month now.
I can't think of anything I dislike about the software. Nothing comes to mind.

I was using Google Analytics before, but I couldn't understand how to use it to accomplish my analytics goals. It wasn't simple. It was too complicated.
PostHog solved that problem for me.
I was easily able to figure out how to get the data I wanted.
Now I am able to understand the users of my website and get some real data.

Most helpful / upsides: Unified event pipeline, fast feature flags, A/B testing, and session replay reduce instrumentation effort and speed experiments and debugging.

Scaling can need significant ops work and memory tuning; some advanced features have sparse docs and a steeper curve for non-technical users.

Lets OORB measure user flows, validate experiments, control feature rollouts, and debug sessions while keeping data on-prem and privacy-preserved.

I love how PostHog has simplified my workflow with its ability to provide insightful analytics on user actions across various hosted pages within our app. The feature to identify top viewed pages and detect errors or bugs is particularly invaluable, saving me a significant amount of work and enabling a deeper understanding of user behavior. I'm impressed by how quick and easy it was to set up PostHog—it took me just 5 minutes to have it up and running, which is a testament to its user-friendliness. The UI is something I adore; it is straightforward and easy to navigate, making my tasks more efficient. Being AI-first is another standout aspect of PostHog that I love. I found the ability to use the MCP server in conjunction with Claude to create custom dashboards without needing to access the website to be incredibly innovative and useful for our team's specific needs. Switching from Sentry and other basic solutions to PostHog was a great choice because PostHog integrates all necessary functionalities seamlessly, offering a comprehensive analytics solution. The straightforward setup, taking less than 10 minutes, and the additional 10 minutes to integrate MCP, made the transition smooth and seamless.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

There is an annoying quick start guide in PostHog that remains sticky and won't go away. When I first installed PostHog, I activated all features because I wasn't sure which ones would be useful. After realizing that our app is still in beta and we didn't need all the features, I disabled the unnecessary ones. However, the quick start guide persists, asking me to finish the rest of the setup, which I don't want to complete. There's no way to hide it, making the experience slightly counterintuitive.

I appreciate that PostHog provides reliable analytics that I find more trustable than Google's offerings. I am impressed by the brand ethos of PostHog; it feels down to earth and honest. This transparency and authenticity in brand identity resonate strongly with me, offering a sense of trust and reliability.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I am frustrated with PostHog due to two significant issues. Firstly, the integration process to fully comply with GDPR is cumbersome. There isn't a clear and simple setup that utilizes local storage and flags to work seamlessly with cookie banners. Additionally, there is a lack of a framework surrounding cookie banners, which would simplify this process significantly. Secondly, the self-hosting option via Docker could be improved. It currently requires multiple third-party setups with Postgres as the database. A straightforward, single-image deployment would greatly enhance its usability.

First the UI. A UI like that makes me wanna use the app.
For the features I really love how easy they are to implement and the wide variety. I can do everything from basic analytics to error tracking in the same app.
Love the pricing and the transparency!

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

What has been a bit less enjoyable for me maybe is the setup for error tracking and also sometimes the proxy for nextjs.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use posthog as a hub to catch everything piece of information and analytics about my apps. I'm using error tracking, surveys, analytics, and I'm planning to add heatmaps in the near future. It has helped me catch some bug numerous times !

I like that PostHog is easy to use, which makes it accessible for someone like me who's not a marketing person by trade. The great free plan is a big plus because it allows me to get started without having to go through the corporate expense process. Additionally, the support is good, which adds to the overall positive experience.

The UI can be a bit clunky at times. I wish it had a clearer UI and easier selective feature flags.

I really appreciate PostHog's very simple way to manage feature flags. It allows me to quickly iterate and test implementation paths by enabling, disabling, or modifying user groups for enabling feature flags. It's definitely one less thing to worry about! Plus, the initial setup of PostHog was very easy!

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

PostHog offers a seamless self-hosted analytics solution that gives full control over user data. Its event-based tracking is highly customizable, and the session recordings, funnels, and feature flags help us deeply understand user behavior. The interface is user-friendly, and integration was straightforward, even for complex use cases.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

While PostHog is feature-rich, some advanced dashboards and filtering options can feel a bit limited or slow for very large datasets. Documentation is improving, but certain self-hosting configurations could be better explained. A more responsive customer support option for smaller teams would also be helpful.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PostHog helps us track user behavior across our product in real-time without relying on third-party analytics platforms. By self-hosting, we maintain full control over our data and ensure user privacy compliance. It solves the problem of fragmented analytics by combining session recordings, event tracking, A/B testing, and feature flags into one unified platform. This has significantly improved our ability to make data-driven product decisions and respond quickly to user needs.

- Open-source and self-hostable (full data ownership & privacy).
- All-in-one: analytics, feature flags, session replays, experiments, and heatmaps.
- Scales from startups to enterprises with flexible deployment (cloud or self-hosted).
- Strong developer tooling and integrations with modern stacks.
- Active open-source community and transparent development roadmap.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

- Steeper learning curve compared to simpler analytics tools.
- Self-hosting can require significant infrastructure and DevOps effort.
- UI/UX may feel less polished than commercial-only competitors (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel).
- Advanced features can get expensive on the cloud-hosted plan.
- Less plug-and-play for non-technical teams without developer support.

Instead of needing separate tools for analytics, feature flags, session replays, A/B testing, and heatmaps, PostHog combines them all.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

First of all, PostHog offers nearly every feature needed to track users and produce analytics.  It has a ton of features at no cost.

I was successful in persuading the developers and product managers on my team to use Posthog.

Additionally, it is developer-friendly, which aided my team in incorporating PostHog into four different products.  Additionally, they have an AI tool called MaxAI that is incredibly responsive and offers excellent responses in the event that we require assistance with integration or searching. 

 In any case, I would highly recommend this product to others because it is excellent.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I want them to work on the graph user interface.  Despite their best efforts, I believe there is still space for improvement in the overall user interface.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Posthog is assisting my team in monitoring user behavior on our app and documenting any crashes that occur during the user journey.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

Everything I’m looking for regarding product analytics in one place. It’s super easy to understand my product KPIs, track revenue, and egress data back to my db.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The user interface upon onboarding was a bit overwhelming. Left sidebar, main page content in the center, and then docs on the right. Other than that, really straight forward to use.

Event tracking, funnel analysis, dau, and revenue tracking

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

So many useful tools all in one place. It feels like posthog has all the utilities need for a new startup to succeed. The integrations of the features are also painless. Also, the people are so cool. Reporting a bug gets it fixed within 1-2 days. They also helped a lot with our startup credit. We use the tool very heavily to debug, get user interaction data and also tracing.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

If you asked me 2 weeks ago, I would have said nothing. But recently when using `posthog/ai` we faced quite a bit of hiccup. A lot of basic functionalities were broken is the typescript sdk and we had to debug and report them ourselves. It felt like a beta soft release rather than a proper one.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The session replay is very useful for our product. When a user reports a bug or blocker, we can just view their session reply to see what the user journey looked like. We fixed a lot of critical bugs in this way and also helped with improve out UX in places where we noticed user getting lost.
