**What do you like best about PostHog?**

I enjoy using PostHog for its analytics and visibility, which allow me to learn usage patterns from my users. The session replay feature is immensely helpful for getting feedback on user journeys through our platform, especially at the initial launch of SmushLabs.ai. PostHog is really clean and easy to use, making installation a breeze even for someone not so technical in marketing tools. The simple script installation through Node and the analytics working effectively, particularly with session replays, stand out to me. PostHog also has great visibility features and allows you to own your data. The session replays give me visibility on possible bugs and errors, and they help me understand the user journey through my landing page. The initial setup was incredibly easy; it was the best I've seen.

Honestly thankfully I am a bit technical but looking it being used by other founders it might get a little complex.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

We mainly use it for product analytics and session replays and check it almost every day. It provides a lot of high-quality features for a website or SaaS product, and it isn’t hard to understand how to implement, even though there are many features it tries to walk you through. I also really like the app’s design; it looks great and genuinely feels like a passion project. Integrating it into both our website and our web app has been fairly straightforward as well. Their documentation site looks so good but is also helpfull.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

There isn’t really anything I dislike about it, but you do need to be at least a bit tech-literate to use it comfortably. Otherwise, it can feel overwhelming at first. That said, it seems like that’s exactly the kind of user they’re catering to.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us resolve user issues thanks to the session replays and error-tracking features. We also get a lot of product insights from the product analytics and web analytics tools. On top of that, querying specific custom events through the SQL editor works really well.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

I mostly use PostHog for its product and web analytics, "session replay" screen recordings, and funnel analysis. The way these features are integrated with customer data models makes it a very insightful tool. PostHog provides a more generous pricing structure compared to Hotjar, which has limitations on surveys and recordings. I love how actively maintained PostHog is; it's a platform that grows quickly and effectively, implementing the "right" new features without being swayed by buzz-like AI. I appreciate that they listen to customers and solve their problems. The advantage of having an all-in-one suite that combines user and company data with analytics events, recordings, and surveys is invaluable. The initial setup with the web client was easy.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

They have documentation. It's good to get you started but not helpful to solve advanced problems. Since the AI consults the same docs, for advanced questions the AI bot isn't that helpful either.

PostHog unifies our tools by combining web and product analytics with session replay and more, all with a generous pricing structure, unlike GA4 and Hotjar.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

We use PostHog daily for both web and mobile analytics. It gives us full control over event tracking, funnels, and feature flags without relying on multiple tools. I especially like the flexibility of defining custom events, running product experiments, and connecting everything directly to our data stack. It feels very developer-friendly compared to tools like Mixpanel or Amplitude.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The main downside is the learning curve. Because PostHog is very flexible and technical, it takes some time to properly design events, funnels, and dashboards. However, once set up, it becomes much more powerful than simpler analytics tools.

PostHog helps us understand how users interact with our product in real time. We track onboarding funnels, retention, and feature usage across our web and mobile apps. **What do you like best about PostHog?**

As a founder, PostHog gives me day-to-day insights into issues users would never tell me about themselves. I can see where people struggle and act on it before it becomes a complaint. Feature flags have also been hugely valuable even when I'm not running big experiments, I use them to toggle features on and off or push status messages to users. It's a simple but powerful way to stay in control of what's live.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The frontend for posthog.com has started eating a lot of memory on my machine. The PostHog app can hit around 1 GB, which feels off for a web app. Something seems to be leaking or over-fetching.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PostHog surfaces the silent issues the friction points users experience but never report. Combined with feature flags for safe rollouts and quick toggles, it gives me both the visibility and the control I need to run the product day to day without a dedicated analytics or ops team.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

What I like most about PostHog is its flexible event tracking and cost-effective analytics. It lets us capture user interactions across our application—clicks, feature usage, and user flows—so we can understand how people actually use the product.

The event explorer and funnel analysis tools also make it straightforward to analyze behavior without needing complex queries. As a result, our product and engineering teams can quickly check adoption of new features and spot where users drop off in key journeys.

Another big advantage is the pricing model. Compared to other analytics platforms, PostHog provides strong capabilities like event tracking, dashboards, and product insights at a much lower cost, which feels especially practical for growing teams.

Overall, PostHog gives us deep visibility into product usage while staying easy to integrate and affordable, and it has become a valuable part of our workflow.

One challenge with PostHog is that some of its more advanced analytics features come with a learning curve for new users. Basic event tracking and dashboards are easy to get started with, but fully understanding how to use funnels, insights, and custom queries can take time—especially for teams that are new to product analytics tools.

Another area that could be improved is how the UI is organized for more complex analytics workflows. As the number of tracked events grows, managing them and quickly finding the right events or insights can start to feel a bit overwhelming.

Also, although PostHog is very cost-effective compared to many other analytics platforms, certain advanced capabilities and higher usage volumes can still drive costs up as the product scales. Because of that, teams need to plan their event-tracking strategy carefully.

Overall, these are relatively minor drawbacks compared to the value the platform provides, but better usability and stronger event management would make the experience even better.

PostHog helps us tackle one of the biggest challenges in product development: understanding how users actually interact with our application. Before we implemented PostHog, it was hard to track detailed user behavior or reliably measure how different features were being used.

With PostHog in place, we can capture key user events like clicks, page views, feature usage, and user flows. This gives our team a clear view of how people move through the product, where they drop off, and which features get the most engagement. As a result, we’re able to make more data-driven decisions about product improvements and prioritize the right work.

From a performance standpoint, PostHog lets us monitor and analyze usage without adding heavy complexity to our frontend. Event tracking integrates quickly, so our engineering team can start capturing insights with minimal overhead.

It’s also improved collaboration and onboarding across the team. Product managers, designers, and engineers can explore dashboards and funnels on their own instead of relying on developers to pull data. That makes it easier for new team members to understand user behavior and overall product performance.

I appreciate the session replay feature and how seamlessly it integrates with other analytics tools. It's a minor thing, but it's a little difficult to get the most out of the dashboards without a lot of learning / config, however the docs seem to be really good.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Posthog allows me to identify issues with my app before my customers encounter them. I have a clear view of how users interact with the app and can easily run experiments using Posthog. The ability to toggle features on and off and measure their impact is very useful. It brings together the functionality of eight or more separate products into a single, streamlined interface, making it possible for me to handle a large amount of work from one dashboard.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

I like PostHog most for its user recording feature. It was quite a revelation because I didn't even realize I could do that. The user recordings are super useful, allowing me to see what users do and click on, and helping me understand where they're confused. The analytics component is also good enough for my needs, helping me understand my customers and what issues they face when using my product. I think it's nice for a language learning product that's still small. Overall, I find these features helpful in achieving my goals.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I'm really confused about user recordings not being consistent. If I see seven unique visitors, I expect seven recordings, but that's not happening. I've been searching on Google and asking PostHog's support but still don't get it. The explanation about merging didn't really clear it up because I think every session should be recorded. Also, I'm not sure how to bulk delete user recordings right now. I dont see any unique button I can click to delete that shows up when I select all the recordings.

PostHog provides essential user analytics and recordings, helping me understand my customers and their issues, boost product goal achievement, and see where users may be confused, which helps increase conversion rates. Additionally it helps provide insight into errors that occur on the frontend.

To be honest, I like how PostHog has implemented a language learning model (LLM) that I can ask questions to. This is really helpful versus having to spend time learning how all the dashboards work. Since PostHog is a pretty dashboard-heavy product, being able to avoid having to learn all the dashboards and just ask the LLM the information I want to know is great.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I think we're missing some UTM parameters, but I don't know if it's PostHog's fault. It looks like it's the browsers are stripping it. But we're still missing some of the UTM parameters, unfortunately, but it seems like that's a problem everybody has.

PostHog lets me know where people are coming from. It saves me time by allowing me to ask questions without learning all the dashboards.

I use PostHog for analytics and I really appreciate that it's very developer-friendly. The dashboard UI is very nice, and I love that it has session replay natively integrated, so there's no need to install another package. The initial setup was very easy, which was a big plus for us.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

There are a few bugs sometimes, but they get fixed very fast by their team. I myself reported some issues. There was a memory leak issue in their SDK due to the Session Replay feature. When the user was on the same screen for long, our app was crashing due to high memory usage, killed by the operating system.

I find PostHog enhances user engagement with its developer-friendly environment and nice dashboard UI, plus the native session replay means I don't need extra packages.

I was really impressed with how easily I could integrate Posthog into my Nextjs project. The user interface of Posthog is top-notch and it's quite intuitive to navigate through all the features.

One of the main reasons I chose Posthog is because of its extensive features and reasonable pricing. Currently, I am utilizing its Web Analytics and session replay capabilities.

I couldn't find any reason to dislike PostHog. If I come across anything in the future, I will make sure to share it on other social media channels..

I have recently launched my app, which helps users optimize their images with the help of AI. As a product owner, it is very important for me to understand the users' behavior and experience so that I can refine it according to their usage.

I have compared other products for my needs, but I found PostHog to be the best, as it allows me to handle multiple things under a single umbrella.

**What do you like best about PostHog?**

PostHog feels like a genuinely “all-in-one” product: analytics, session replay, and feature flag management all in one place, without pushing you into a bunch of separate tools. The value for money is strong - you get a lot of functionality for a reasonable price, so it doesn’t feel like it’s going to bankrupt you as you scale.

What I like most is the feature flag/feature toggle management. It’s flexible enough for real-world use cases, including targeting and conditional rollouts, and it’s been reliable for us so far. On top of that, the API is excellent; being able to manage flags programmatically and pull data has been genuinely useful. Overall, it offers a lot of capability, it’s easy to integrate, and once you’re set up, it’s straightforward to use day to day.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The biggest downside for me is the initial learning curve. On my first use, the UI presented a lot of features all at once, and it felt overwhelming. It took me a while to figure out where everything was, find the features I actually needed, and learn how to use them properly.

That friction mostly disappears once you get familiar with the product - over time it becomes much easier to navigate and operate - but the first impression can still be “too much at once.” Better onboarding, a more guided setup, or clearer feature discovery would help new users ramp up faster.

**What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PostHog solves two key problems for us: feature flag management and product analytics.

On the feature flag side, it helps us ship more safely and manage rollouts with more control - especially with conditional flags (for example, enabling features only when a user meets certain conditions or behaviors). That makes it easier to test changes, reduce release risk, and roll out new functionality gradually.

On the analytics side, we use it to understand how the product is being used and to get actionable insights. We also use session replay occasionally to investigate UX issues or unexpected behavior. They’ve recently added logging as well; we haven’t migrated yet, but it’s something we’re considering as part of an upcoming switch. We haven’t tried A/B testing yet either, but it’s on our radar for the future.

I really appreciate the survey tool and recordings feature in PostHog as a user experience designer and researcher. It's incredibly easy to gather user feedback, which I can then seamlessly integrate into my projects. The survey tool is versatile, allowing me to conduct general NPS surveys or target specific URLs with customizable options for appearance and timing, greatly enhancing its utility. Being able to use surveys to have users sign up for additional interviews further extends its functionality. I also find the recordings feature extremely valuable, as it allows me to observe user interactions and identify areas for user experience improvements, making PostHog an indispensable tool for understanding and enhancing product analytics.

I find the dashboarding and setup in PostHog a bit tricky, making it challenging for our team to ensure data accuracy. Despite the appealing branding and charming hedgehog mascot, the underlying user interface can become quite confusing when all embellishments are removed. Additionally, the initial setup process was not straightforward; it has taken months, and my team is still working on it. This complexity has been a hurdle in our integration workflow.

I really like that PostHog is one platform with so many products, and everything works together, so we don't need 20 platforms and try to connect them. It's an all-in-one solution. Their dynamic dashboard is good and the data handling and pipeline are really good, making room for a lot of custom flows. They ship new features fast, and it was very easy to get started, though it takes some time to fully integrate all features and set up everything in a logical way.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

While shipping fast is good, it sometimes feels like products are half finished, and then slows down after they are GA, almost like it becomes too much to maintain. The custom dashboard should be more dynamic and more usable public, with date ranges for example.

PostHog has all, or almost all, the features needed for user analytics. I particularly appreciate their very generous free plan. It's developer-friendly with good documentation and customer support. The initial setup is pretty easy, which is a big plus.

Sometimes PostHog is quite slow on Chrome; they often do UI redesigns of the app that make it difficult to understand where features are; there are also a lot of features that you can use - so you might get overwhelmed.

Another great aspect is that it provides access to all the APIs through SWAGGER. Overall, the platform is highly adaptable, allowing us to tailor analytics to suit our needs.
Once you have done all setup it can be easy to navigate through the platform.
The customer support is extremely  helpful and quick in response.

The frequent crashes during loading can be quite irritating at times, and I also receive a large number of incident emails. This makes me think that there are many crashes occurring, although they do seem to get fixed periodically.
For someone who is implementing Analytics first time it can be a little overwhelming as events and all can be a little too much and might not be easy for to integrate for first time.

We had difficulty tracking how many of our users were truly active, and we needed a way to store this data for use by our Lead Management Team and for marketing purposes. PostHog provided us with clear and straightforward insights into user activity, making it easy to understand what is happening and why. We have a kiosk iPad app. Whenever an issue happens during payment we need to be able to observe a session recording of when that issue happened and logs so we're able to have a better understanding of the issue. The initial setup was pretty easy, and it's cool how PostHog can go through our codebase like Claude code.

It's not user-friendly and it's hard to navigate. I don't really know how to set up a lot of things natively, just feels a little confusing. The UX is kinda shitty; we want to understand how to do things, how to observe things, and how to use the app really well, and that's kinda difficult.

I liked the fact that, in addition to meeting the specific needs I needed for experimentation, Posthog offers quite powerful web analytics capabilities. This has helped me obtain more accurate campaign data, which I consider a huge benefit.

What we've struggled with is the implementation. It's a complex implementation, not as simple as experimentation tools more focused on marketers. But I believe it's predictable, since it's a tool more focused on developers.

Still, it gives us a lot of autonomy. And because we're using the self-hosted version, despite some missing features, we've had excellent monthly costs. (The cloud version also has reasonable costs compared to competitors.)

Having previously used other tools, I missed the cloud version's greater cost predictability. The usage per action or processing makes the bill difficult to predict.

Using that data, I implemented small improvements through feature flags and A/B testing, and the results were immediate. The UX/UI is simple to understand, and whenever I'm stuck, its AI is very good at getting me back on track. The help docs are pretty good, though it's usually simpler to ask the AI. I like that it provides a single UI for many analytics-related tools. I've used it for product analytics, LLM analytics, and session recordings, but it can also handle web analytics, revenue analytics, heatmaps, and more. It serves as a data warehouse, providing a single point of access to all my data. I also enjoy their communication style as it's very casual, fun, and straight to the point, which makes using the app enjoyable. There are many tiny details that frequently make me say wow.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The first times I tried to create my own charts, I had a hard time understanding what types of chart/analysis I should use. Luckily, its embedded AI helped me do it. But the naming of the buttons/UI elements did not make it intuitive. Additionally, when using the LLM analytics there were some costs differences between what was displayed in the UI and my calculations given OpenAI rates. Differences were small, but I wasn't able to conciliate them. Also, in LLM Analytics, you have to click each message to see its content. When checking long conversations, it's annoying to have to scroll down to click on the message, scroll up to see its content, scroll down to click the next message, scroll up to see its content, and so on. There should be a better way of visualizing the conversation. The LLM feature is new in PostHog, so hopefully they are still iterating on it.

What I dislike about PostHog is that sometimes it feels a bit heavy or rough around the edges. Because it does so many things in one platform, not every feature feels equally polished. It's very helpful that PostHog supports many different features or product lines, preventing the need to manage multiple separate services. Not every single guide has full support for the framework you're using. It was confusing to figure out if I should use the native JS library or React, which is the preferred way. There were some instantiation issues, and the examples and documentation weren't too great. I like that PostHog makes it extremely easy to enable analytics by just adding a single file file. The onboarding process is one of the best I have seen, as it doesn't require switching between multiple windows and gives API keys directly in the onboarding flow. I also appreciate how intuitive the UI is and the value of user recordings for my use case. The feature of being able to quickly verify integrations and the simplicity of adding analytics are really beneficial. Switching from Google Analytics to PostHog was a relief because PostHog is more intuitive and offers a smoother experience.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I think the dashboard could be improved. There could be a more discoverable question mark icon which explains the entire chart for my specific app. Many times the titles are not directly very intuitive. Another thing is the onboarding could include a step that allows you to track custom objects, like whether the user is disabling a feature flag or not. Also, in the onboarding, there could be a copy button that allows you to directly provide the step to cloud code, removing the manual copying and pasting of code snippets.

I find PostHog provides a quick and easy way to enable analytics on my website, track user flows, and avoid complex backend tracking. The user recording feature helps me see how the platform is used and spot any issues.

Very easy to understand the list of available features and what each does and to which use case it applies. Just as easy to integrate and start seeing results. And the interface to define reports is also pretty straightforward and where you encounter difficulties you have the PostHog AI that helps you figure things out.

I had some troubles with the documentation. I found some confusing information is some places about how to add custom data to the tracking event. I was eventually able to figure things out using PostHog AI, but the first impression I got trying to use the docs by myself was that the format of the event JSON needs to be a bit more clearly documented and a bit more consistent.

I like PostHog for its GDPR compatibility, which is important to me since I dislike those cookie banners. I appreciate the powerful query language and the clean UI. The free tier is enough for me until my projects become more financially successful. The dashboards are fairly simple and easy to use. I also find the SDK simple to use and enjoy using the TypeScript browser and Node.js SDK.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

I found it difficult to create a dashboard graph based on a custom query that used the dashboard's time filter. I didn't know how to use the selected data range in the query, or if it is automatically added.

I also find the generous free tier incredibly beneficial as it helps manage costs for early-stage products. The initial setup was a breeze, thanks to the excellent documentation, interactive guides, and the remarkable AI CLI tool that streamlines the installation process. **What do you like best about PostHog?**

I love the result presentation interfaces of PostHog; they are really very clean and offer great freedom, allowing the creation of custom dashboards somewhat like Notion. I particularly appreciated the simplicity of installation on my React project, which took less than 5 minutes, and I was able to see results immediately, which is very convenient for sharing with clients, including those who are not tech-savvy. The integration is also quite good, with many useful features for easy interaction. PostHog allows us to build our own charts with total freedom in their layout and in the choice of axes, which facilitates the customization of data presentations. Moreover, the numerous templates offered provide great starting blocks for quickly creating attractive visuals.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The PostHog interface is considered quite heavy, particularly the dashboard which seems overloaded with information. This can make it difficult to get started and might especially intimidate non-technical customers at first, as the interface can appear quite complex to understand. Fortunately, the use of the recently installed PostHog AI helps navigate the interface, which is an advantage.

I appreciate that PostHog meets our basic needs for generating heatmaps. Even though there are not many standout features we need right now, it effectively provides the insights we require about application usage. I value how it enables understanding of which areas of our app are utilized the most, fulfilling its primary purpose efficiently.

**What do you dislike about PostHog?**

The integration setup with PostHog was very rough around the edges, which made the initial setup process not easy. There was confusion about whether I could have multiple environments under a single API key. Apparently there was an announcement that you could, but then that was quietly removed. The heatmaps feature being in beta demonstrated some instability or incomplete elements. The dashboard UI included distracting touches like a desktop imitation complete with a screensaver, which I found annoying. The product appeared to be heavily targeted at sales and marketing, but the developer documentation was neither easy to find nor as comprehensive as I would prefer. The projected billing for the first month seemed quite high for what was being offered, causing concern. I figured out in time to turn off autocapture, a feature apparently not necessary for heatmaps, but I'm not sure it'll still be worth the cost

I appreciate that PostHog is an all-in-one solution which significantly suits our company needs. The fact that PostHog is self-hostable stands out as a huge advantage for us, especially since it allows us to retain user session recordings that we previously lost due to our past integration being blockable. I find the capability of using PostHog alongside other tools like Datadog for logs to be really beneficial, integrating seamlessly into our existing setup. Despite the slightly more technical initial setup due to the self-hosting, the benefits far outweigh this minor inconvenience. Overall, it's perfect for our use case, and I am fully satisfied with its performance, so much so that I would highly recommend it to others.

The initial setup experience with PostHog was slightly more technical due to the self-hosting aspect.
