As the owner of a fractional boutique PR agency, this platform lets me manage all of my press lists for our various clients in one place. For the first time in 20 years, I don’t have to rely on Excel sheets for my Rolodex. I also love the per-client task tracker, and the calendar view makes it easy to see all my campaigns at a glance.
It’s very affordable compared to other platforms that have become so expensive. I appreciate that it pulls in news articles and lets me customize which stories are the most accurate and relevant for my clients. Overall, it’s a mighty all-in-one tool that has helped me run my business more smoothly. I highly recommend it to any PR/comms or fractional professional looking for an affordable platform.
In addition, I found the tutorial incredibly helpful, and also the platform is very intuitive. I love that it has detailed features like how I can favorite a reporter entry so I can see them easily in my lists. The Help Desk is also great -- I found a bug in the platform and when I submitted it to the Help Center, it was fixed within the next day or so. So it's clear that while this may be a newer platform, their backend team is taking feature upgrades seriously and is responsive to customer issues.
The overall performance of the platform is strong. It loads quickly, and I don’t have issues with uploading my lists or making changes. Things update at a normal fast pace you'd expect of a platform these days. Though the media report kits might take a few minutes (2-4), which is not terrible considering it has to collate the data.
Pitcher can also integrate with your client websites to help pull in website traffic or data. I haven't used that to the fullest extent yet, but having those metrics / that ability is key, as it can help us figure out the interactions of the media we secure and the drive/traffic to the website, etc, which also will inform your media reports that Pitcher can build for clients. Depending on the person, one downside of Pitcher is that it doesn’t include a metrics dashboard like the major platforms do. Personally, I’ve never found a ton of value in those dashboards anyway, because the founders I worked with simply didn’t prioritize the data enough for it to matter. Times are changing, and while this isn’t a major drawback for me, I can see how it could be for others.
Also, Pitcher doesn’t store, load, or share (or otherwise make accessible) reporter information the way Muck Rack does. So if you’re looking for an easy way to pull a list of reporters for your beat, Pitcher probably isn’t the right fit. That said, I actually respect Pitcher for not keeping and monetizing reporter data. With AI bots making it harder for reporters to tell who’s real and who isn’t in pitches, I appreciate that you have to come into Pitcher with a clean slate and upload your own lists. In media and press, relationships are key. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
