Everything is easy to find, and managing projects is much more organized. The translation matching is excellent and helps avoid repetitive work. I also love how quickly we can assign vendors and send automatic messages directly from the platform. It makes communication much easier and speeds up the entire localization process. Overall, Phrase has become a tool that our team relies on every day. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** The platform is already very strong, but there are still a few areas that could be improved. Sometimes larger projects can take a little longer to load, and some advanced settings can be difficult for new users to understand at first. A few workflow screens could be simplified to make the learning curve even easier for new team members. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Phrase helps solve a lot of the common challenges in localization, like managing multiple languages, keeping translations consistent, and coordinating between internal teams and external vendors. The translation editor is easy to work with, terminology and translation memories are well integrated, and the quality assurance features help reduce manual checks. I also appreciate the ability to sort strings by different criteria, such as confirmed/unconfirmed status or fuzzy match percentages, as this makes project management much easier. Another feature I find very useful is the F8 keyboard shortcut for inserting tags quickly and accurately, which helps maintain formatting consistency and improves productivity. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** What I like least about Phrase is finding and navigating to assigned jobs. I find the job lists somewhat unintuitive, and in many cases I prefer to ask the Project Manager to send me a direct link to the assignment. Even when I receive and use the link, I often struggle to find the same job later from within Phrase itself. As a result, I end up clicking the original link again. However, after I have already accepted the assignment, that same link often no longer takes me directly to the job, which can be frustrating and time-consuming. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Phrase solves many of the challenges I face in my daily work. While I am a freelancer rather than an agency, it still benefits me indirectly by helping me gain new clients among translation agencies. For a freelancer, having many years of experience with Phrase is a significant advantage in the market. Some minor changes on the platform **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Susanna R. | Linguist, Education Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2023 **What do you like best about Phrase?** In the Q&A section more functions had disappeared, so the overview is now simpler and I could save time. The DeepL engine is being removed from the platform (I do not know if this is good or bad yet.) NextMT appeared on the platform but I do not use it (I use Google engine), so I have no experience with it. Other than that, there weren't many new things in the system for me. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** The DeepL engine is being removed from the platform. We have lots of MT segments and the system is often unable to pull in the desired terms from the termbase list, so they must be manually click and insert into the target language field. (At the first time we thought that the engineers did not attach the termbase excel at all.) In the Q&A section more functions had disappeared which could be a good thing, but I do not have enough experience with that yet. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Large files can be translated much faster, making my work easier. In addition, importing an Excel file as a TB is incredibly easy. Great for every single translator! **What do you dislike about Phrase?** QA running time is longer than that of other CAT tools, in particular, memoQ. When the TB was huge, the QA check took more than 30 minutes. **Recommendations to others considering Phrase:** I have recommended Memsource to other translators already. Since you can start a free plan (Personal edition) and also free-trial, I feel easy to recommend Memsource to others. In addition, Memsource is very simple and user-friendly, everyone can learn the basic just in 30 minutes or so. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Until I started Memsource, I had to type a lot of words manually. Thanks to Memsource, which suggests words the instant I start to type, I now don't have to do it: I simply choose one of the suggested words, which relieves my stress. As always, human supervision is needed, especially when working when sensitive content (as is my case). There is one feature that Phrase offers that, in my experience, is not very common: creating a term base for letting translators which word NOT to use. This saves time and effort, as translators have fewer, more accurate choices. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Unfortunately, in some of my recent projects, an error message appeared when I tried to confirm segments and save my progress. Not all the progress I had made was lost, but confirmed segments are used to track progress. Therefore, the rest of the team was unable to tell how much work I had actually completed. Most of the time, logging out then logging in again solved the issue, but this process can be confusing and time-consuming. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Phrase TMS CAT-related mistakes/innacuracies are significantly reduced; therefore translators can spend more of their time and energy doing theit work. **Official Response from Beth Anderson:** > Thank you for your review about our MT and term base features, we're especially glad the 'forbidden terms' functionality is saving you time! In the job overview, I can see which jobs are new, started on, or completed. The editing view, where I add my translations, is also very nice. When I have a phrase that is very similar to an old one, Phrase gives me the translation of the older, similar phrase and shows me exactly where the two phrases differ. It's also easy to work with Term Banks and add terms when needed. I also like that I can work online or on desktop, I prefer the latter for bigger jobs. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** If there is something to complain about, then it's the fact that Phrase doesn't necessarily recognize conjugated forms of terms. If I am supposed to use a term, and I actually use it, but in a conjugated form to fit Swedish grammar, Phrase will complain that I haven't used the term. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** One thing that I like is that when a word is in the Term Bank, I don't need to type the entire word. If I just start with the first letter, it will suggest for me to type the term by a shortcut. It also handles repetitive words and sentences, so the translator can more easily maintain consistency across translations. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** It would be even more helpful if it could use AI to detect inconsistencies among words and phrases in cases beyond exact (100%) or ICE matches. It could also flag potential inconsistencies and prompt me to review them. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Phrase to get rid of the headache of scattered content and manual workflows by centralizing everything—from code repositories to design tools—into a single dashboard. It cuts down the constant back-and-forth of emails and spreadsheets with automated triggers, and the In-Context Editor plus real-time Glossaries mean I don’t have to guess how a string will look or worry about inconsistent terminology across different files. The platform noticeably improves my day-to-day throughput because I can spend my time refining nuance instead of rebuilding work from scratch, helped by efficient machine translation and a translation memory that keeps track of recurring phrases. It also handles complex file formats like .json smoothly, protecting the underlying code while I focus on the language, and the built-in QA tools automatically flag formatting or tag errors before I hit submit. ### 9. When setting up projects, the step by step format is very helpful, as you cannot forget about anything when creating the jobs and assigning them. The content hub has a lot of insightful and helpful information in case you have doubts. Phrase has been optimizing the use of AI, but it's not forcing it on you if you don't feel like using it, so that's also great. Their customer support service remains being as quick and helpful as always. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Not really, I find it very useful. Being able to create and edit localization keys directly from Figma makes the process much faster and more intuitive. The screenshot and tagging features are also very helpful for tracking and collaboration with developers and translators. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Overall, everything works well for me and the platform fits nicely into my workflow. The only improvement I would mention is that the Figma plugin sometimes feels a bit resource-intensive, especially on larger files, which can slightly affect performance. Other than that, my experience has been very positive. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** No need to create several mock-ups for each language. Just one language and that's it. No need to update each language file, which saves a lot of time.
