i had to collect metrics data for few critical banking applications to feed into splunk. When as a beginner i couldn't understand other open source tools like collectd, collectord came handy and solved the problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

easy to deploy even if you are beginner. it has trail license for 30 days which solves the problem for most of the people . it helps in lots of usecases like application monitoring, security monitoring and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
