We deployed an OpenVPN on an Ubuntu VM. The installation is straightforward, and no need to mess with the complex firewall rules. We use Microsoft Azure Entra ID, so integrating SAML for single sign-on was a big win. Our team was a mix of Windows laptops and Mac OS machines. OpenVPN Access Server is a highly reliable solution. I especially appreciate its strong authentication features, which integrate easily with AD, LDAP, or RADIUS. Setting up advanced features like NAT, ACLs, or routing is not straightforward and demands a strong understanding of networking concepts. Additionally, gathering and logging comprehensive information about active sessions can be quite challenging unless you use external tools or custom scripts. I work remotely for a US company, and I have to access the US servers, which requires my location to be in the US. Many of the other VPNs provide remote access; however, they are very slow. Over the past couple of years, OpenVPN has improved its speed and provides the best speed I have seen. The UI design is very minimalistic and user-friendly. I like the fact that OpenVPN Access Server supports MFA and SAML for client login. We had used the built in MFA previously using Google Authenticator, and now client login via SAML and we MFA on the SSO side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Not having Port Groups setup for server access. If I need someone to have access to one server and just RDP (for example), i need to create 2 rules (1 for TCP and 1 for UDP). It would be nice to be able to bundle TCP/UDP ports together. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
