## OpenText Core Fax Reviews
  ### 1. Moving to Next Generation Faxing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Xmedius is extremely flexible in how it can deliver Fax Messages, it's also nice to have the Service Provider Edition and split up departments to customize their faxing needs, while maintaining a level of security between Departments in compliance with HIPAA, etc. Scalability is also key, with some great fail-over capabilities. Their Technical Support is top notch and is always willing to help regardless of the issue.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Lack of a MAC App to integrate MACs into Xmedius, the inability to chain "Sites" within the Service Provider Edition, to combine SITES, while still maintaining settings between sites. Also, with so many features available within Xmedius, sometimes it's hard for a business to understand the "Best Practices" on how yo setup Xmedius, and they don't do a good enough job in assisting here.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Once implemented, get ready for an explosion of growth, it will become a large undertaking. Also, this system requires multiple disciplines within IT to work together seamlessly, or it will get messy fast.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to deliver more reliable faxing through our enterprise, while offering new features that have not been available. Also in our industry, we have quite a few Fax Servers, of various brands in our environment, we are working to consolidate them all to one Fax Server.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Desktop client is available only as WebClient.
SW Client for end users will be appreciated. Only simple SendFax app can be installed.
Vendor Knowledge base could be improved, it is not easy to find solution for simple issues, and mostly all the time I need to create vendor service ticket for issues Im having

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

I can definitely recommend XMFax for all business units where faxing solution is needed.

  ### 3. XMedius Cloud Fax Service (XMFax) Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shawn U. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

We recently migrated from RightFax (on-prem) to XMedius Fax and no longer need to host the infrastructure in house. The account provisioning process is quick and simple. Technical support is generally very responsive and helpful. I pestered them with lots of questions initially and they assisted me with every single one.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Their technical support ticketing system is separate from their provisioning ticketing system. I will elaborate. I opened several tech support tickets and had a great experience emailing back and forth with support. My issues were handled promptly. When I submitted a number porting request application, I got an email saying the request was denied because the name on the form was not authorized with the carrier. No big deal. I addressed the issue and replied to the email asking how to proceed. I heard nothing. Over the course of two weeks I emailed them several times and received no response. Eventually I called in only to discover that there are two systems and if I reply to an email from the provisioning system it essentially goes nowhere. Instead I needed to log back into the portal, look up the provisioning request, go to the comments tab and enter my replies there. No one tells you this. You need to figure it out on your own. It's obviously not the end of the world, but given that our old fax platform was no longer working, it did have an impact. I will say that once I understood how to communicate with the provisioning team, things went much better.

One other thing - they don't have native integration with Active Directory. They have a very convoluted way to periodically sync using a Python script. For such a mainstream service, I would expect better integration with at least the most popular systems like Active Directory. Same goes for the initial import of users. I spent a couple hours trying to get the Python script to work and eventually just ended up manually creating accounts as needed. It was not worth the headache, though it now introduces another system that needs to be maintained manually.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

It's simple to set up, easy to use, and support is helpful. As a cloud service, it takes away some of the challenges of hosting an on-prem faxing platform.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RightFax was very antiquated and temperamental. XMedius seems simpler and we no longer have to worry about supporting an outdated platform in-house. Support for the old system was poor, which meant more time spent resolving problems. The combination of better support and moving to the cloud means a more stable, reliable service for our users.

**Official Response from Eduardo Duque:**

> Hi Shawn,

We’re glad the XM Fax solution is working out well for your needs.

Thank you for your valuable feedback about the number porting system and Active Directory integration. We will look into improving the messaging directing recipients of provisioning request emails to the portal. It’s possible we can make it clearer/more prominent. XM Fax users can access the service in a variety of ways besides the web portal, but that convenience brings with it a tradeoff: native integration with Active Directory is unfortunately not possible. However, we’re going to add an item to our development backlog to review our Python integration to see how we can improve it.

  ### 4. Xmedius Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark D. | Sr. Solutions Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

The support resources that are available are incredible. They respond very quickly and are able to provide the required information. Will Larson does a great job supporting us and his training has been very valuable.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Documentation can sometimes be difficult to find information. It would also be nice to have an easier way to print confirmation pages at fax time.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

The product is very easy to implement and the support is outstanding.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our largest Xmedius customer is adding devices and locations every week. They love the Xerox connector and convenience of not having to run analog fax lines when offices or devices move.

  ### 5. Thomas' Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

I can send faxes right from my desktop, without having to go to the fax machine.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

What's not to like? It's a great product. I suppose if anything it would be that it doesn't work if the internet is down?

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

XM Fax is a good product. Everyone who uses it for the first time is surprised at the user friendly GUI and ease of usage.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solved the issue with XM support when we wanted to include a east side company to our Xmedius server. The assistance was great.

  ### 6. World class, enterprise quality support from XMedius

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Perry G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

The ability to customize XM Fax and adapt to any fax requirement is paramount. From web services to third-party integration and connections, no one can compete with XM Fax.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

The technical configuration and reliance on third party products can introduce support challenges, especially for the novice.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Employ a knowledgable and experience reseller

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've successfully integrated XM Fax with document management solutions, database management tools and Transaction Authorization systems. I've also connected XM Fax to a wide variety of telecommunication and email platforms. I've helped customers make large savings in head count, telecommunications costs, management overhead, and even governance and liability exposure.

  ### 7. Faxing made easy!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valarie B. | Applications Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Makes faxing easy for our staff and allows us to cancel our analog phone lines and dispose of our outdated fax machines.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

I don't care for the pre-paid subscription plans that expire in 1, 3 or 5 years. We had to (gu)estimate how many fax pages are sent and received because as an organization, this information was not known. We didn't want to purchase too many credits and have them expire before they were used (wasted money), but also wanted to take advantage of lower pricing per page by buying more credits.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By implementing a FIOP solution, our staff who are currently working from home due to the pandemic, are now receive incoming faxes via email. This allows us to stay HIPAA and FERPA compliant by not having this information sitting at a fax machine while the offices are closed.

  ### 8. Simple and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Ease of use and options that fit our needs. the system is very intuitive. Our users are able to navigate the fax system easily and the online help is great.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

So far I have not had any dislikes to report

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

None at this tme

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fax distribution and the ability for the user to track fax status without intervention.

  ### 9. The application is mature, the team that supports it, they are just phenomenal.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick C. | Support Analyst II, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

We are a hosted solution provider and work with many application vendors, out of the dozens of support teams for those applications the Xmedius support team has always been the most responsive. Everyone is knowledgable about the product and I've never had to stop and think "what are our SLA's for their support?", I can count the application vendor teams like that on one hand and the Xmedius support team is the top of that list.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

That we don't have the opportunity for introducing more products by them.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Health and education-related requirements for maintaining fax in a digital era. The benefits would be the dramatic improvement on the modern Faxing process and Toughbook-like reliability of the Xmedius product we use.

  ### 10. Support is great and the product is top notch.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

XM Fax is a great product to use in place of a physical Fax. Easy to work with and maintain and eliminates paper waste. This is a great service to use for our purposes and for many of our customers.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

There don't seem to be any downsides to using XM Fax. It gets the job done and does it well. The newest version expands on the already great product and just makes it better. At first glance, the system is a little confusing for the Administrator but overall it is intuitive once you get used to the interface.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

This is a great product and I'm glad that we have it and looking forward to using it more and also to further use and alterations to our config in the future.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not needing to have fax equipment all over the place for different people and also there's no possibility of someone picking up the wrong fax or seeing someone's information that doesn't need to. Security is top on our list for using XM Fax and the improvements and upgrades that are in version 9.0 really sell the system and make it even better.
