"Easy Coding for Interview Analysis, But Some Cumbersome Functions"

4/5

What do you like best about NVivo?

It's really easy to create codes and to attach them to bits of text in my data. Once I have a draft codebook, it's a smooth process to add it to my NVivo project and then to code my interview transcripts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NVivo?

The method of creating and populating a case is cumbersome. After I upload a file, why do I have to copy its contents and drag it to the new case where it belongs? Also, why can't a Query be a crosstabs of one code with another code? In my past qualitative analysis software this was easy to do. NVivo is very expensive for a low-budget nonprofit. And we had a problem with getting an overpayment refunded: we paid for a Collaboration license so two people could work on the same project, but it never worked, so we tried to get a refund, unsuccessfully. But we get a lot of value for the amount we pay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NVivo solving and how is that benefiting you?

When I have multiple interview transcripts, it would be very difficult to find common themes without NVivo. My drafts, whether for a book chapter or a small case study, are much more coherent since I have NVivo to analyze the data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
