We are running novomind iSHOP now for several years across our shops, and what we like most is the balance: you get a stable, reliable core system, and around this core there is a lot of freedom to build your own things. For us this is the main point. We are not a company that wants a closed box where everything is predefined. We want to develop, to automate, to connect our own systems, and iSHOP allows this.
A big plus is also that software and operations come from one hand. novomind develops the platform and hosts it as well, so we have one partner for both. In daily business this saves a lot of discussions about who is responsible for what. If something is unclear, we have one address, and the people there are really reachable. Our contact persons answer, they know our setup, and they think with us instead of only working through a ticket. That is not self-evident in the enterprise world.
We develop together with a partner agency, and this combination works very well. The platform gives the agency enough room to implement our requirements properly, and novomind keeps an eye on the stability of the whole thing. Also on the innovation side we see that they move. New topics come, they are discussed openly with the customers, and you have the feeling that the product is going forward and not only being maintained. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Freedom has its limits, and one should know this before starting. This is not a Shopware shop where you install three plugins on a Friday afternoon and play around a bit. It is an enterprise system, and novomind themselves always want to make sure that the operation stays secure and stable. So some things need coordination, some things take a bit longer, and not every idea can be implemented exactly the way you first imagined it.
For us this is more a characteristic than a real disadvantage. If you expect the flexibility of a small standard shop system, you will be surprised. If you understand that the guardrails exist for a reason, then it is fine. But it is worth saying it clearly, because it influences how you plan your projects and your team.
