"Notepad++ is great - Just use it!"

5/5

What do you like best about Notepad++?

What's best about Notepad++? It's a tie between free and amazing. For a free app, it is amazingly powerful. If it doesn't do something you need, just check to see if there is a plugin. It can format HTML, XML, and JSON. It encodes and decodes BASE64, allows you to edit by column, search and replace across all files in a folder, make live edits over FTP, etc. It's really worth checking out. What do you dislike about Notepad++?

The only thing I really dislike is it can sometimes be difficult to find a missing feature or to realize there is a feature you could really use that needs to be installed through a plugin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Notepad++ solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am a web developer and use Notepad++ multiple times a day, every day. It is especially helpful for editing code and cleaning data to load into a database or Excel. It is excellent at loading very large text files and is extremely fast in scrolling. I often use Notepad++ to open IIS web server logs. Just delete the few header lines and first few characters of the column headers line, save, and load in Excel as tab-delimited. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
