"Lightweight, Fast, and Versatile Editor for Everyday Tasks"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

Notepad++ is lightweight, fast and very easy to use. It supports multiple programming languages, making it ideal for editing scripts, logs and configuration files. The tab-based interface and plugin support make daily work efficient. I use it on a daily basis as it is fast and easy to work with. There are multiple features like find and replace, search and multi-tab editing are very useful for daily work especially when dealing with large amounts of data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

The user interface seems a bit outdated when compared to more modern editors. I would like to suggest that Notepad++ should incorporate advanced features without plugins. Adding a feature like difference between two given texts would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightweight, Efficient, and Customizable: Notepad++ is Essential for Productivity"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

What pleases me most about Notepad++ is its lightness and efficiency combined with advanced features. The ability to work with multiple files in tabs, along with the functionality of searching and filtering regular expressions across various files, makes the experience extremely productive. Additionally, the interface is intuitive, and the wide range of plugins allows for customizing the environment as needed, without compromising performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

So far, I don't recall any problems. I really like the tool and have been using it for a few years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unmatched Text File Support and Powerful Editing Features"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

Best text file app by a mile. Supports almost every file extension out there. Search/Replace and editing works so well. Formats the text based on file type for easy legibility. Advanced search using regex is a great feature. Has text compare as well in built. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

UI looks dated and not very pleasing to the eye. Dark mode is not really dark. No text prompting and auto complete or suggestions like other note apps or IDEs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Bulk Editing and Plugins Make Notepad++ Indispensable"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

I appreciate Notepad++ for its powerful regex-based Find and Replace feature, which allows me to make bulk edits quickly and accurately. This function becomes even more efficient when combined with macros for repeatable tasks. The multi-editing and column mode features enable me to insert or modify text across multiple lines simultaneously, whether I'm using multi-caret, Alt+drag selections, or the Column Editor. This makes handling tabular data and repetitive changes much faster, often taking seconds instead of minutes. The plugin ecosystem, accessible through Plugins Admin, is another highlight—especially diff tools like Compare and ComparePlus, which provide convenient side-by-side comparisons along with a variety of specialized utilities. When tasks become repetitive, the ability to record and replay quick macros saves me time without the need for scripting. Additionally, the robust encoding and end-of-line (EOL) controls let me easily convert between Windows, Unix, and Mac line endings or set sensible defaults for new documents, helping me avoid cross-platform compatibility issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

I find it frustrating that Notepad++ is limited to Windows, which makes cross-platform workflows more difficult and forces macOS and Linux users to depend on workarounds instead of having a native version. While its multi-editing capabilities work, they feel rather basic compared to editors like Sublime, where multi-cursor selection and navigation are much more advanced right from the start. Notepad++ also falls short in terms of IDE-level assistance—although it offers syntax highlighting and some basic autocompletion, it lacks intelligent code completion and built-in syntax checking, so you miss out on the safety features typical of a full IDE. When it comes to heavy batch or background automation, the editor is essentially single-threaded; running long, multi-file regex operations in the background isn’t seamless unless you rely on plugins or scripts, and even then, there are compromises. Handling end-of-line characters can also be a hassle in cross-platform situations: you can set defaults for new files and manually convert line endings, but existing files often still require manual intervention to prevent issues with shells or toolchains. Occasionally, encoding issues crop up—such as confusion between ANSI and UTF-8 without BOM—which means you have to adjust settings in Preferences to ensure files are interpreted and saved consistently. The built-in diff feature using Compare or ComparePlus is useful, but if you need diffs that focus on specific columns or tokens, you’ll often need to set up extra options like Ignore Regex, which isn’t as straightforward as using dedicated diff tools. "Blazing Fast and Efficient—A Windows Powerhouse"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

I appreciate that Notepad++ is developed using the native Windows Win32 API, which means the application launches very quickly and runs smoothly without lag. It uses CPU and memory resources efficiently, unlike some other programs that are slow to start and consume a lot of memory.

Another standout feature is its ability to let you edit text and easily view special characters, which is especially important when working with CSV and text files. I once had a situation where in a particular system a user was uploading an empty file which was alowed but sometimes the users file would contain hidden special characters which would crash an old legacy system . Using notepad++ to inspect the empty csv file was straight forward and easy as it immedicately made visible the special characters and allowed the issue to be rectified Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

Because its written specifically for the Windows platform , Notepad ++ doesnt work on mac or linux unless you use Wine , Additionally for first time users the too many menu items in the menu bar can be a hurdle as it can become overwhelming to search for the exact feature that you need. "Fast, Reliable, and Easy-to-Use Editor for Everyday Work"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

What I like best about Notepad++ is its ease of use. The interface is simple, clean, and doesn’t require any effort to learn. Even the ease of implementation is great — you install it once and it’s ready to go without any complicated setup. I use it very frequently because of the wide number of features it offers, like syntax highlighting, tabs, and plugin support. Even though it's a lightweight tool, the ease of integration with different languages and workflows makes it extremely dependable for everyday editing tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

The only thing I dislike is that the UI feels slightly outdated compared to modern editors. Also, while the number of features is great, some of them rely on plugins, which may not have the best customer support or documentation. Another drawback is that it’s Windows-only, which affects my frequency of use when switching devices. Still, these aren’t deal-breakers — but they are areas that could be improved. "Simple, Lightweight, and Gets the Job Done"
What do you like best about Notepad++?

What I like most about Notepad++ is its simplicity and speed. It opens instantly, even with large files, and doesn’t consume much system memory. Syntax highlighting for multiple languages, search/replace with regex, and tabbed editing make daily development work much easier. It’s lightweight but still powerful enough for most coding and text-editing needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notepad++?

The UI feels a bit outdated compared to modern editors, and customization options are limited without plugins. Also, plugin management can sometimes feel confusing, especially for new users. Native support for macOS and Linux would be a big plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
