  ### 5. Deep Packet Visibility, but an Outdated, Hard-to-Navigate UI

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2026

**What do you like best about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

What I like most about NETSCOUT is that it doesn’t make guesses, unlike other observability tools that infer what’s happening from sampled data and logs. Instead, it uses deep packet inspection to capture and analyze the actual traffic in real time.

**What do you dislike about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

The UI feels outdated, and if someone isn’t a seasoned network engineer with deep packet experience, navigating the dashboard can be overwhelming. Finding a specific metric often requires digging through multiple layers of menus, which makes it harder than it should be to get to the information you need.

**What problems is NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NETSCOUT addresses the massive problem of blind spots in hybrid networks.

In the past, when an application crashed, the cloud team blamed the network team, the network team blamed the internet provider, and we lost hours to finger-pointing. NETSCOUT changes that by capturing raw packet data across the entire infrastructure on-premise data centers, private clouds, and public clouds like AWS or Azure so we have a single, undeniable source of truth.

This improves my workflow in three major ways. First, it enables instant root-cause analysis: instead of digging through conflicting logs and opinions, the tool quickly pinpoints whether the issue is a broken link, a bad server, or misconfigured application code. Second, it drives a major reduction in downtime: resolving critical outages takes minutes instead of hours, which saves the company thousands of dollars per incident. Third, it supports proactive threat detection: because it monitors traffic at the packet level, it can flag unusual data spikes or potential security threats before they escalate into an actual system crash.

  ### 8. Real-Time Traffic Insights Beyond Basic Monitoring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prince S. | Principal AEM Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

What I like about observability platforms like NETSCOUT is the ability to go beyond simple monitoring dashboards and actually understand the behavior of traffic, performance bottlenecks, and user experience in real time.

**What do you dislike about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

One challenge I see with NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability — and honestly with many enterprise observability platforms is the learning curve.

The platform is powerful, but sometimes the depth of data and number of metrics can feel overwhelming for teams that are not highly specialized in network monitoring. Without proper onboarding or experienced teams, organizations may end up using only a small percentage of its actual capabilities.

Another area is integration simplicity. Modern engineering teams often expect lightweight, developer-friendly integrations and faster setup across cloud-native environments. Enterprise tools can sometimes feel heavier compared to newer SaaS-first observability platforms.

Also, observability data is only useful when it leads to actionable insights. Too many alerts, dashboards, or complex reports can create noise instead of clarity if not tuned properly.

That said, the visibility NETSCOUT provides at scale is still extremely valuable, especially for large enterprises handling complex infrastructure and critical applications.

**What problems is NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NETSCOUT helps in identifying network and application performance issues before they impact end users, which reduces downtime and troubleshooting time.
It provides deep visibility across infrastructure, APIs, cloud, and user traffic in one place, making root cause analysis much faster.
This improves overall system reliability, customer experience, and operational efficiency for engineering and support teams.

  ### 9. Strong Observability Platform for Complex Enterprise Infrastructures

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

The best thing is that it provides end to end visibility across multi cloud and hybrid environments. As most enterprises run business across multiple locations these days , Netscout observes the traffic between all the components. Also it creates a unified view.

**What do you dislike about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

One thing that can be disliked is that it provides tremendous amount of data which can overwhelm the new users. Due to packet analysis , a deep understanding of networking is required.
Particularly companies looking for plug and play , can find it more comples.
Also being an enterprise product , it's not very cost effective.

**What problems is NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I personally have not used this but one of my known organization has been using this. Employees reported that a CRM application was taking 15–20 seconds to load. The application team believed the application servers were healthy, while the network team reported no major outages. Without end-to-end visibility, troubleshooting involved multiple teams and could have taken hours. Using NETSCOUT, the operations team was able to trace the entire transaction path and quickly identify that a network link between the data center and cloud-hosted application tier was experiencing intermittent packet loss. The packet-level visibility showed exactly where delays were occurring.

So the biggest benefit here was root cause identification.

  ### 10. Robust Performance Monitoring, Needs UI Refinements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Senkathir S. | Hardware Design Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2026

**What do you like best about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

I like using NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability because of the real-time analytics and packet-level details it provides, which help me pinpoint root causes and reduce guesswork during outages. The end-to-end visibility is crucial when handling critical apps, and I find it valuable to clear paths during downtime. The ability to analyze traffic beforehand helps me a lot in managing traffic spikes and slowdowns. Mapping applications and tuning alerts are pretty easy, making these processes less tedious. Plus, NETSCOUT has more features, better visibility, and enhanced troubleshooting capabilities, which were factors that prompted my team to switch from our previous tool.

**What do you dislike about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability?**

I find the Dashboard and UI lacking. I wish there were separate views for NOC, app teams, and management, as well as better widget customization and a unified timeline graph. The cost is also a concern; it'd be great to have improved licensing options and resource optimization. While mapping applications and tuning alerts were manageable, they weren't entirely effortless. We had to spend time validating traffic flows to ensure the right services were grouped and correlated properly.

**What problems is NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use NETSCOUT to monitor network traffic, troubleshoot performance issues quickly, pinpoint bottlenecks, detect outages or anomalies, and correlate network traffic with application behavior, reducing time spent troubleshooting.
