**Reviewed by:** Sharon A. | DevOps Engineer, Maritime, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2026

**What do you like best about mSQL?**

A lightweight, open-source relational database management system. Very good and reliable for small to medium applications

**What do you dislike about mSQL?**

It has poor scalability, and the server is unstable. Development has been discontinued, which makes it unsuitable for modern production use.

**What problems is mSQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a lightweight, easy-to-deploy relational database for resource-limited environments such as early web apps and embedded systems. This benefits users by enabling rapid setup, keeping overhead to a minimum, and offering simplified, SQL-based data management without the bloat of enterprise alternatives.

  ### 2. mSql - your goto relational database

**What do you dislike about mSQL?**

There are several functions which made me really frustrated to learn mSQL, like subqueries. Although it took me some time to get used to, I realised that this obtacle was just not as big as I thought. Furthermore, there is a problem with the server, which is turned off automatically several times a week. Therefore, I have to go controls of the mSQL Server first to switch it on to use mSQL.

**What problems is mSQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trends and overall analysis of the business. These two are the main reasons for my use . It is really helpful to clean the data to make powerful visualizations for insights.
