## About Motion
Motion features a familiar interface that lets you easily create titles, transitions, and effects for Final Cut Pro.

## Motion Reviews
  ### 1. I use it for the flexible meeting offerings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patti B. | Co-Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I love that I can send a link to someone that shows preferred times and available times they can meet with BOTH my business partner and me. I also like the permanent links I can set up that allow someone to use their special meeting link over and over again.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

It really wants to cram my day in with activities if I let it. I would like it if I could say, "I only want to do so much deep work in a day vs light work, and have so many breaks." If I let it set my entire schedule, I'd never get to pee.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So I'm not sure why I had to select Video Effects for an application focusing on productivity. Maybe G2 has something else in mind? I love the flexibility of the calendar scheduling and that when I want to set up my own meeting with my business partner, I can see the optimal times on his calendar.

  ### 2. Amazing software, but app compatibility is lacking.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt C. | Digital Content Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Motion?**

Motion is so incredibly easy to use, and its integration with Final Cut Pro is awesome. I love the interface and hower powerful it is. Creating my own titles and motion graphics is a pleasure.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

It does NOT integrate with Adobe files very well. With After Effects, I can pull in Illustrator files and work with the layers. I can then update the AI files and my AE projects will update. Motion does not work with other files well at all and it is a huge detriment to my workflow, so I have to use AE for those projects.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating titles and motion graphics with Motion for Final Cut Pro projects is a dream. The integration is seamless and the UI is so much better than After Effects. I am faster and save time creating my own custom work.

  ### 3. With a learning curve but so cool to create animations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafa V. | Tutor Excellence Program, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I can make for example perfect title animations for social media publications

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

Not so easy to start with, you need to use some tutorial, but then is really useful

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

Is a little bit expensive, but finally worth it!

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating beatiful and customized animations for almsot everityhing in video, perfectly supported with Final Cut Pro X

  ### 4. Motion is just the animation tool I was looking for

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben K. | Audio engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I found the layout and interface of motion to be very user-friendly and intuitive. I also like that the interface is consistent with all of the other programs in the apple lineup so jumping right in was easy.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I have run into several instances where motion crashes for an unknown reason. So if you don't get in the obsessive habit of always saving you can lose your work.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Motion has allowed me to create custom video graphics that make the work I do stand out from the standard stock options. The way that motion seamlessly integrates with FCP X is one of the greatest benefits.

  ### 5. Motion Success

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danny G. | Media Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I like that Motion has a user interface that is easy to use and understand. The interface is built very similar to that of Final Cut which makes it very nice when needing to switch between the two applications to achieve different effects. With Motion you are able to achieve the (as the name states) motions that you aren't able to achieve with Final Cut.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I think the one downfall to Motion which has gotten better is the time it takes to render and save videos. Especially with the videos that have a lot of movement to them which creates a larger file size. Also it seems that the compression you receive with Motion isn't to the degree of the compression you get with other pieces of software like Final Cut or even the dreaded iMovie.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This gives us an additional tool to use for video editing and gives us the ability to quickly move between the two that we use which is Motion and Final Cut. They both can use the same add-ons which makes it nice when needing to match videos with smilier editing additions. There are times when our creative team asks us to do things you may only see in larger commercial types of production, however we can usually accomplish it using Motion.

  ### 6. Apple Motion Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim E. | Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Motion?**

This gives us something that works directly with Final Cut and uses the same codecs. We are able to easily move items back and forth as needed. AS the name suggests Motion is fantastic for adding dramatic motions and graphics to any video.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

The rendering time and process can be cumbersome and time consuming at times depending on the graphics and video being used.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to have more than one person working on videos at a time. One person could be working on anything that requires special graphical effects and another one can work on just getting clips organized. Then when ready they are able to combine the finished videos to create one video.

  ### 7. Powerful and Intuitive

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caleb B. | Design Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I like that Motion is easy to integrate with Final Cut Pro X. I can drop transitions and titles into Motion and save them, easily to drop into a Final Cut Pro project later. I can modify any aspect of those transitions that I want which gives me even more options when working on a wedding video or company add. It also gives me a lot of masking features for special effects.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I don't like how difficult it is to learn how to use Motion. Sure, it's intuitive and powerful but there are so many features, I have to go to You Tube to learn how to do anything. But that's what you get with a motion graphics software. It can be complicated because there are so many powerful features.

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

Look up lots of videos on You Tube to learn about how to use Motion well. It takes time but it's worth it for great projects. There's lots of help online to learn this software.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Motion to improve the creativity of my video projects. The benefits of Motion are just to help me make changes to transitions and titles that I need to make my projects perfect. I love the masking features.

  ### 8. Motion Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caleb B. | Design Engineer, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2020

  ### 9. You need this program!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricardo B. | Content Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Motion?**

After Effects was hard for me to pick up, but for the affordable cost & tons of feature Apple Motion is a breeze. If your preferred video editor is FCP you have to have this!

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I would like to see more functionality with exporting/importing to FCP. For now I'll finish a project in motion then I can do specific cuts & audio editing in FCP.

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

For $50 this program is a steal! - Motion graphics is the spice your clients are looking for!

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a quick program to pick up & I've made lyric videos with AM

  ### 10. Motion is a apple program that everyone must try

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert G. | Commercial Producer, Editor, Videographer, GFX artist, Promotions Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Motion?**

after countless hours looking for a program that can fit our needs, motion is a great program that helps you create cool effects and GFX that can help your production quality tremendously

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

what I like about Motion is the price, I should be cheaper to use, and that the things are menus are hidden, so we can use it and really get good at the idea of having it in our arsenal

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

I recommend more templates for users, and more advanced tutorials

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the benefits that help us is that, things are clear and content if you want to change something, its easy, and music that we like can all be played back to back giving us freedom to choose what ever we want

  ### 11. Motion works pretty well but it is missing some key features.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinicius R. | Lead Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Motion?**

Apple Motion works pretty well with Final Cut Pro X, my mainly video edit software. Using both programs let me create great templates that makes my life way easier while editing. Another great point is that the interface looks a lot like FCPX, so it is very intuitive for professionals like me.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I fell Motions can bring some of the effects from Final Cut Pro, once I needed to recreate the "bad tv" effect since it just doesn't exist in Motion. Also I miss a lot some key features that I can find on After Effects, mainly for complex annimations. I know that there are some tolls for that but they are not intuitive. Another problem that I found using Motion was on sharing my projects: I couldn't find a way to let people with older versions of Final Cut Pro use my presets... I would love to see ways to export for any Final Cut Pro X version. Last but not least, some times while I am editing my templates on Final Cut, I find the app crashing, it cleary happen because of the file I created on Motion, but I can't figure out how to fix that; most of the times I find myself exporting twice to check if the second file will be out of crashes.

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

My company just didn't switch to Motion, cause we still needing to use After Effects for some creations. But we would love to use just one software.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While working at HeyCheff I needed to create some video presentations of our products. At that time, Motion allowed me make some templates for titles and simple animations that I could use across all my campaing, it saved me time and I also could share it with my partners that were editing videos as well.

  ### 12. Easiest to use for great motion graphics.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Troy F. | Owner, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Motion?**

Motion is by far the easiest software for making great motion graphics without a lot of fuss. It isn't quite as robust as After Effects, but it isn't trying to be. It is great at being a simple, easy to learn solution for motion graphics. Default settings are very simple and you have the option of diving much deeper as your needs/desired require.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

The worst thing about Motion is that it often crashes. Since it's made by the same company that made the hardware and the operating system, I would expect the software to runs much more consistently than others in its class. Sadly, that isn't the case here.

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

It doesn't do everything that After Effects does right out of the box, but it meets most of my needs when it comes to simple animations such as splashes and logo animations.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Motion is so much more simple than After Effects, that it's my go-to application for quick, simple animations and transitions. The integration with Final Cut Pro X is quite well done. I love having the ability to edit an existing effect or transition and then use it in Final Cut.

  ### 13. Great for music lovers who want access to a wide variety of music

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arika S. | Owner and Photographer, Photography, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I am able to download and listen to almost all the music in the iTunes catalog.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

No dislikes for the most part besides cost.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

able to put on playlists during shoots, for the mood of the shoot. Fun & energetic to romantic. Music helps lighten the mood and get people more comfortable, so it is great to have such a wide variety in my arsenal.

  ### 14. Intuitive and powerful motion graphics software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael A. | Audio Engineer/ Editor, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Motion?**

As an Apple product, Motion features a beautiful modern design that makes it easy to use and compliments many of the of the other Apple or or Adobe programs you would use it alongside. Updates over the years have improved functionality and added useful new features. I've been happy with how many great third party templates and stock graphics are available to use with Motion.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

Layering can be tricky to figure out, as with all software of this nature. I have run into play back issues on videos with longer runtimes.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Motion is much cheaper than other alternatives for motion graphics but offers many of the same powerful tools so it saves us money.

  ### 15. Perfect motion program for low to mid range projects for $50.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard B. | Media Manager, Communications Dept., Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Motion?**

The simplicity of the program, I understand that a lot of people hated it when Apple started breaking up the Studio apps, but for someone who occasionally needs motion tracking or chroma keying, it's a great program. Because it's now a self-contained application, it also allows me to use it without stopping work in other programs like FCP and its able to take advantage of more RAM and processing as a standalone program.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I do wish it was designed to work along side the other editing apps from Apple(Audacity, Final Cut, etc...), especially chroma keying because I'd love to not have export all the clips and just alter the source video with Motion.

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

It's extremely low price and ease of use make it something that anyone interested in getting into motion work should get. Even if you intend to eventually to much more advanced programs, having the basics learned through Motion gives you a great base to start from.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm moving into a lot of gimbal-stabilized filming and through the learning process of the new system, I can use motion to aid in stabilizing the footage in the mean time.

  ### 16. apple motion not so great unless you use final cut pro

the cost is less, which is a benefit if you actually use it

  ### 21. interesting and good collection

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Motion?**

good collection and sound quality were the 2 top things

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

cumbersome to set-up, takes time and overall fees

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

just to get some free space

  ### 22. Classic Apple, easy to use but not hugely customized

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John C. | Podcast Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Motion?**

Like all apple products, its very intuitive and has a very satisfying surface. The project templates it comes with are fairly impressive but mostly useless!

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I was not sold on the opportunities to customise smaller parameters like you could with something like after effects

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The templates you can get online for reasonable prices are decent but there are not many freebies unfortunately!

  ### 23. Great program for the money

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua G. | Affiliate Producer, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2016

**What do you like best about Motion?**

Motion is an amazing product for $50. It is a pretty in depth motion graphics program. It does not have all the features of Adobe After Effects, but it works very well with Final Cut Pro X, even allowing you to make specific titles and effects that work directly with FCPX.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

Motion does not have all the options that Adobe After Effects. It does not work extremely well with photoshop files, but does a decent job. I wish that it had the ease of use that After Effects when it comes to creating depth in animated photos.

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

Don't expect it to do everything. You can do an awful lot with it, but there are times where it will come up short and you'll need to jump over into After Effects.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use motion a lot to create titles, short animations and effects for videos that I ultimately edit in Final Cut Pro X. It's a really nice motion graphics companion for tasks that I need to execute quickly.

  ### 24. Great but not After Effects

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda L. | Producer & Editor, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Motion?**

The best thing about Motion 5 is the abiltiy to create Final Cut effects, transitions, titles, generators and more and apply them seemlessly, as well as creating custom titles for re-use in the FCP Titles Browser.. Additional content is pretty helpful, and the keyframe editor is a nice touch. The Rig function also help a lot!

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

As great as it is to create things for use in Final Cut, the cross integration isn't that great. It would be nice to be able to send a FCP sequence to Motion and send it back to FCP like the old days.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to automate graphics, saving time

  ### 25. Motion is a software of progress

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Motion?**

I like the how user friendly it is. Very easy to create, but could use some more bells and whistles

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

I don't like how the you don't have control over which window you can move to a second screen.
only the canvas and timing panel

**Recommendations to others considering Motion:**

Find a tutorial and start learning. Pretty user friendly

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketing communications. How quickly you can create a motion graphic

  ### 26. Great tool for title/intro creation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Motion?**

It's so easy to just jump right in and get to creating pretty impressive motion graphics with just a few clicks. And if you want to go deeper and make a more complex composition, you can do that too! The interface is great, as is expected from Apple. I love the templates they offer Out-of-the-box as well.

**What do you dislike about Motion?**

This is by no stretch a replacement for something like After Effects, but certainly a good tool to have in your kit.

**What problems is Motion solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used this to create intros for short, in house, company presentations
