**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

What I like best about AKS is that it simplifies Kubernetes management a lot compared to handling clusters manually. It integrates well with the Azure ecosystem, scales reliably, and makes container orchestration easier for enterprise applications. I also like the monitoring and deployment experience with Azure tools.

**What do you dislike about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

AKS can feel complex for beginners, especially when troubleshooting networking or scaling issues. Cost management and cluster configuration also require some experience, otherwise it’s easy to overprovision resources.

**What problems is Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AKS helps manage containerized applications more efficiently by simplifying deployment, scaling, and orchestration. It has helped improve application reliability, automate deployments, and reduce infrastructure management effort for microservices-based workloads.

  ### 2. Great Kubernetes Platform Service by Azure

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anurag Y. | Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

Azure Kubernetes Service is great to work with and I like that it integrates easily with other technology and tools in the Azure ecosystem. We have been using it to containerize our solution for over 2 years now for our client. It also has great interface which is easy to navigate and I like that a lot while working with it.

**What do you dislike about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

There are some limitation like every tool. Sometime like the provisioning of new cluster or scaling of node takes several minute which feels slow and could be improved upon. I feel the documentation could be upgraded as well.

**What problems is Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been running our large scale backend application in an Azure kubernetes cluster that integrates with ML models to provide sales forecasts for our clients based on historical data. Our workloads are very much data-intensive and spreads across multiple components — API services, data processing pipelines, and model inference tasks all this needs to scale dynamically, run reliably, and integrate with other Azure services like Blob Storage, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Monitor.

We also utilize AKS with other tools at Azure to help with logging which keep the backend up and running without a lot of manual intervention.

  ### 3. Simplify Maintenance but Improve Necessary in Deployment

**What do you like best about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

The best thing about AKS are:
1. It is easy to create and manage as compared to EKS, GKE, or other orchestration tools.
2. The secret store csi driver is yet another best feature to integrate keyvault with aks to manage confidential secrets.
3. We can integrate ACR with AKS just by providing the ACRPull role to the AKS managed identity is also a great feature as we don't need to secret imagePullSecret for that.
4. We can seamlessly manage cluster autoscaling for high availability.

**What do you dislike about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

Well overall AKS is one of my favourite orchestration tool but there are some disadvantages as well:
1. There's lot of headache while upgrading the cluster to the new Kubernetes version.
2. We cannot use tools like karpenter to reduce the cost consumption of AKS.
3. There's no such support for spot nodes eviction.

**What problems is Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. The cluster autoscaling problem for higher availability.
2. AKS integration with other Azure Services like Entra ID, ACR, KeyVault.
3. Monitoring and Logging with log analytics workspace and managed prometheus and grafana.
4. Built-in security features like: private cluster, network policy
5. CI/CD using Azure DevOps by creating service connection.

**What do you like best about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

- Managed Service. It takes care of masters, nodes, etcd storage and everything. No need to create the infra needed; AKS service automatically takes care of it.
- We use it to host our infrastructure - compute, memory and it helps us in autoscaling.

**What do you dislike about Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)?**

- It does not support custom docker images. So while pulling the image, if it's integrated, the pull time takes less. However, due to the lack of this support, it takes longer for the pods to come up.

**What problems is Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our application is hosted on Kubernetes, and we use AKS to manage our Kubernetes in Azure.
It helps us in serving the infrastructure that our application needs.
