"Intuitive Usage-Based Billing with Fast Support and Reliable Stripe Integration"

What do you like best about Meteroid?

Meteroid was so far the only billing platform centered around the idea of metered/usage-based pricing, which we found while almost building our own solution. We quickly managed to integrate it with the provided documentation, and for any questions their support was not only very helpful, but also very fast. Performance wise there were no issues that we found, event ingestion works fast, and webhooks are very reliable. Overall Meteroid handled most of our revenue flow from checkout, to plan/subscription management as well as invoicing and payment handling, since they come with Stripe Integration as well. For extra convenience they automatically detect the appropriate Tax Rate for the billing country and apply it to the invoice. The UI is very intuitive to understand and still provides the necessary depth to manage all aspects of billing without having to use the API. For us choosing Meteroid was worth it, as they have a fair %-based pricing model which scales with our business. The choice to make Meteroid open-source also helped us build trust in the system, as well as ensuring it would remain a stable platform to rely on. The biggest shoutout goes to the Meteroid Dev Team, as we required a feature they did not yet offer. When we asked for workaround ideas, they just flat out offered to build the feature for us. What do you dislike about Meteroid?

There are two minor things, which they are already working on resolving: - Meteroid currently is more laid out for B2B products: Meteroid shows all prices "before VAT" which is great for B2B products. Our product is more focused on B2C, and therefore this leads to extra work for us and limits common prices internationally (e.g. 19% VAT in Germany, but 21% in another country, but we can only set the pre-VAT Price) - Minimum spending commitments initially worked only for single metrics, not across the whole plan (multiple metrics). We wanted a shared minimum spend of 9€ across all metrics in any combination (CPU, Memory, Disk, Traffic). Working with the Meteroid Team resolved this as they built and now also shipped the required plan-level minimum spend we needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Meteroid solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were launching a Usage-Based, Self-Service product for container-based hosting. This means we collect basic metrics (CPU, Memory, Disk, Traffic) and need to: 1. Keep track of them with regards to billing windows 2. Tag them with prices and create invoices/handle payments Initially we thought we need to build it ourselves, but then we found meteroid, which can not only handle the metric tracking and invoicing, but also subscription management, pricing logic like discounts, free tiers, a customer portal, etc... Building this ourselves would have taken months. The best part is that those features are contained in a single platform, so we have everything available in one view, including the dashboards for billing performance: This allows us to also get insights into our subscription count, turnover rate, MRR figures and more intelligence on our revenue stream.
