What do you like best about MatterControl?

Easy to use interface and direct connection to many 3d printers. The importing and easy conversion of images into a 3d object is superbly useful and allows for making simple badges, designs or tokens just a couple of minutes work. We have used this for making name badges, signs and such very quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MatterControl?

The saved workspaces are unprotected, so if another user uses the workstation you are at risk of losing your work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering MatterControl:

It is free, and tutorials are freely available, it is absolutely worth trying. I would suggest using this over Tynker Cad and before On Shape or SOLIDWORKS as it allows a much more gentle introduction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MatterControl solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rapid and rough prototyping of objects, while this program may not have the dimension accuracy and absolute control of SOLIDWORKS or onshape, if you just want a quick functional part that you then further develop then this is unbearable. We use this as an intro into 3d Design as it offers a lot more than Tynker Cad and is a lot easier to export than using Sketchup, as the files in Sketchup need a lot of fixing and the software is now quite costly if you want to use plugins.
