"Linux Mint: Windows-Like, Lightweight, and Great for Low-End Devices"

What do you like best about Linux Mint?

I’ve used Linux Mint for a few months, and to me it feels quite similar to Windows. Most apps open from the bottom-left menu button, and it comes with far fewer default applications pinned on the bottom panel, so the desktop looks clean and uncluttered. Because of that, I can use Linux Mint without relying on the command line as much as I have on other Linux systems.

I can also use LibreOffice and image editors like GIMP for free, and overall the system feels more efficient. Most games run smoothly as well. I’ve noticed the battery backup is much better than on Windows, the RAM management is really good, and security feels high. On top of that, we can add a firewall and extra security layers. Most importantly, I can update and install software easily using the Software Manager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

Sometimes it requires driver setup and updates, which can be difficult. I also miss some Windows applications, along with simple copy-and-paste and easy navigation between apps. Opening other applications for multitasking—like running many applications at the same time—doesn’t feel as smooth as I’d like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?

Linux Mint provides a stable Linux OS for low-end devices. It doesn’t use too much RAM, storage, or CPU, so you get more free memory and processing power for other software, and apps can run more smoothly. Some users may face difficulty at first because they are familiar with Windows, but Linux Mint’s UI is similar to Windows, which makes the switch easier.
