"Great for enterprise portals, upgrades are hard work"

What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?

I work at a Liferay partner company so I see the platform from both sides, building and selling it. What I like most is how much you can do on one platform. We built our employee experience product on Liferay DXP and the user roles and permissions part saved us a lot of work. Multi-site setup is also strong, one team can run a customer portal, partner portal and intranet without needing separate tools for each. Out of the box features like workflows, forms and content management are solid for enterprise use. It is also open at the core, so developers can extend it how they want. What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?

The learning curve is steep. A new developer needs a few months to get really comfortable with it. Upgrades from older versions like 6.2 or 7.0 are painful, many companies stay on old versions for years because of the effort and cost involved. Licensing is also on the higher side for mid-size companies. Documentation is better now but some answers are still spread across forums and old blog posts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
