I like Liferay Digital Experience Platform’s modular OSGi architecture and headless capabilities most. I can build, deploy, and isolate custom modules without disrupting the whole platform, and its REST and GraphQL APIs make it straightforward to connect custom frontends with backend enterprise services while using Liferay’s core security and data structures. I also value Liferay Objects, role-based security, and native multi-site management. The platform lets me bring intranet, document repositories, and legacy backend integrations together without building portal infrastructure from scratch, and its flexible architecture supports multi-tenant environments. I find Liferay Digital Experience Platform has a steep learning curve. Mastering OSGi, bundle lifecycles, and classloader nuances takes specialized knowledge beyond standard Java/Spring development. Major-version upgrades and schema migrations can be labor-intensive and error-prone when there are extensive customizations, and I often have to manually cross-reference class names and method signatures. Community troubleshooting resources for complex edge cases can feel sparse. A production-grade setup also takes significant DevOps and system administration effort, so it isn’t a plug-and-play setup for enterprise workloads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
