  ### 3. Fairly Robust LMS Comes with Some Quirks & Odd Limitations

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

It is highly customizable.  Almost to the a point where I feel that our organization isn't fully using it to its fullest potential.  This is the third LMS that I've encountered over the course of my career, and thus far it's the one with the most client control.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

There are some odd limitations that we did not learn about up front in our initial presentations of this LMS.  For instance, while you can build and host courses within modules, known as ILT's, you can only integrate external webinar platforms (ex. Zoom) with single-day ILT's.  While you can work around this, it does prevent the ILT itself being the beginning/middle/end of the student experience with regard to signing into a webinar.  I will add a caveat to this, though, as it is something that is being addressed I am told.

**Recommendations to others considering LearnUpon LMS:**

I was not a part of the bulk of the discussions when we considered LearnUpon, so I am unable to say if we considered other LMS vendors.  I will say that with regard to our needs, I don't know that we fully *knew* what those were as this presented us with such a stark contrast to what we were using previously.  This has facilitated sort of a snowballing of how we offer our courses (format, quantity, how that content is presented, etc.), so in an overall big picture viewpoint, it has been a great experience.  I don't quite give it the highest of marks, though, as we are still very much in a newer phase of utilization, and only after a year of implementation are we now at a point where we are finding areas of expansion and utilization.  So for me I consider these marks as "room to grow."

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we've implemented LearnUpon, we've been able to nearly transition our online course offerings to being "in-house," and within our own LMS, rather than hosting them externally on partner sites.  We've most recently accomplished this with a significantly longer course that totals 75 hours of required student time, which will in turn provide us with a significant savings by eliminating that revenue share.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

I like how easy it is to use. My experience in LMS before Learn Upon was limited and it is very user-friendly from getting trainings set up in the system to being an administrator for the company.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

The one thing I wish is that we could have different gamification for different departments in our company. Not every department wants to have the same thing set up.

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are working on having the ability to have admins be able to view the system as individual users. This will be so beneficial on an admin side so that we can help troubleshoot with employees.

I like the functionality of LearnUpon and the fact that it is easy to use.

We are trying to figure out how to link to a document from one course to another. Allowing this feature would be a big enhancement to our learning platform.

LearnUpon has allowed us to organize our learning into hubs. This benefits us by having our procedures located in one place for learners to access easily. Then it is also categorized into modules within the course.

The flexibility to design and upload your own content. Easy to use, versatile, and the support to implement and maintain is top tier. I highly recommend this product if you are searching for a stand-alone LMS.

The billing process can be difficult due to the company HQ is outside of the US (We are located in the US).

LearnUpon is very helpful for the team, I was using LearnUpon for 2 years when I was in the customer support department and it was very easy to get all theto updates about everything which was helpful to do my job right and with the proper knowledge.

In total, I have had a very nice experience with the platform except for the little breakdowns when the platform works slower than usual but totaly it was happening a few time in my experience

The platform is very easy to use and very good fitted for every organisation who wants to develop a good team and increase their knoweladge

We used LearnUpon in the customer support department for the evaluations and the knowledge base, you can schedule the tests, and training sessions with it which were very helpful.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

The best part is the customer service. Our CSM is integral in helping ensure we are updated with new enhancements and product offerings. Also, the customer support team is highly knowledgeable and very friendly.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

I'd like to see a feature to unenroll users in bulk from assignments. It would also be nice to select a due date for a course/pathway when enrolling users through the enrollments drop-down. We have cases where some employees need to have a specific due date, and others don't, so we have to set this manually.

**Recommendations to others considering LearnUpon LMS:**

If you are in the market for an LMS that will help scale your learning initiatives, LearnUpon is the way to go!

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to improve enrollment and tracking for compliance training, and through the use of dynamic rules, all employees are auto-assigned content required during their onboarding. We have also utilized certificates for auto-re-enrollment for courses required to complete on an annual basis, eliminating the need for manual re-intervention.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

The platform is very stable and LearnUpon's development efforts are well-placed.  It is easy to use for someone who is new to configuring an LMS but there is also access to advanced interfaces like a well-documented API interface.

The Implementation Consultant was very knowledgeable and our Success Manager has pursued how to make the product more successful in our environment. The Support team has been exceptional with timely responses for all requests and a commitment to stick with a problem until the issue is fully resolved.  The Legacy pricing commitment and licensing based on system access (rather than named users) are both very customer-friendly.

From the evidence I've seen, it appears that the corporate culture advertised on their website is a reality.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

We have had to wait a little too long for customized reports to be available, but LearnUpon has addressed the need and is releasing a solution by late Q421/ early Q1 22.   Other than that, I have nothing to complain about.

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was the first LMS for our company, so we've seen the launch and adoption of learner-driven learning become a reality during our tenure with LearnUpon.  Now that the basics are in place, we're keen to look at some of the more advanced features can benefit our learners.

The ease of enrollments once you have grouping established and assigned.

There are lots of clicks and saves required in the admin interface. It makes for a lot of mouse movements too if you manage a lot of courses or content.

THe company is very supportive and responsive!

We administer a monthly quiz game for 700+ remote store employees. We can weight questions, batch enroll employees, and set auto reminder emails. We have one admin.

Learners can get their scores immediately and track their progress on the leaderboard. 

Managers can run reports for the employees they manage and even export data to excel for more in depth analysis.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

I am very new to the LMS, but have been given an abundance of support tools from the LearnUpon admin library. Support is also available from Customer Success Team-- they are very friendly, helpful and have a fast response time.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

So far,  I noticed that pagination can be improved. The LMS only allows you to see "1>" at the bottom and you must scroll through each page. This is occasionally challenging when there are many pages to go through. Additionally, the courses from the catalog only display 5 at a time. It would be helpful to have the option to see more at once.

The system is able to communicate with virtually any HR system which is helpful for automation. It also has a beautiful rating system which allows attendees of courses to rate how they liked it. This is extremely helpful as it allows other users to read through if the course is worth their time/cost.

I like how user friendly it is to build text, image, video, and survey evaluation content within the LMS. It's easy to import a SCORM and add other modules to the course.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

The reporting features could certainly be improved. I have to manually calculate the amount of time it takes a learner to complete a course, which is inefficient.

We were about to create a predominantly self-based new hire onboarding program via a set learning path within the LearnUpon LMS. This has allowed us to bring in larger cohorts of new hires.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

LearnUpon has helped us automate so many functions within our Learning & Development department. It allows us to offer self-paced training courses, in which Learners can enroll themselves. It allows us to track and report on training progress. Most of all, I love the customer support offered by LearnUpon. Our customer success manager is fantastic to work with! She's extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to collaborate with. With each training call she offers us, we learn so much more about the features and functionality within LearnUpon.

I wish the Learning Path functionality was more flexible, but I know they're working on this!

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

LearnUpon is easy to navigate and simple to understand. It's fairly intuitive even for non-technical people (like me), and lots of help and tips are available through the site. The support team are really responsive and the University is a really useful source of information about how to get the most out of the system and also how to spice up your training offering.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

The reporting functions, while not bad, are still a little bit clunky and cumbersome to get the information out of in the way I want to see it. I have this problem with all LMS's though, so definitely not a negative specific to LearnUpon.

LearnUpon has helped us to deliver bite-sized training for people, which has been incredibly beneficial with remote working and remote onboarding in the last 18 months.

Sometimes the information can become bland and looked over quickly. I really like the interactive learnupons.

As an instructional designer it is very easy to upload SCORM files, add instructors, and edit courses.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

Building directly in LearnUpon and not using a SCORM is extremely limiting. Their way of setting up knowledge checks with question pools is also not user-friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering LearnUpon LMS:**

It works wonderfully if you are using an outside authoring tool to import a SCORM.

As an ID I don't do a lot of the work in setting up learning paths but have seen how easy it is for others on our team. It is quick and easy to use.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

I am so thankful that we can now support consistent training. Having online courses where we can track and easily follow up on results is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

I honestly can't point to any flaws. Whenever we need help, the support team quickly responds and resolves our concerns. As a company, they also seek feedback and make changes based on that feedback!

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Again I would point out how the LMS has allowed us to deliver a consistent message to all users. There is a huge benefit to having the initial download of information handled through online courses. Training is now fun and engaging with learnings being validated with integrated quizzes.

**What do you like best about LearnUpon LMS?**

Learnupon is an easy-to-use platform that doesn't take months to get up and running. I like that I can do pretty much everything myself, and it doesn't take any coding skills to get things done. 

I almost never get any questions from the various users once I have courses for them, and the certification learning paths are easy to use.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

I wish there was a bit of customizability, a bit more reporting capability, and that I could add more media banners, or mix between video and linkable still images.

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our biggest issue is trying to traing thousands of dealers across the US. In person training is great, but requires a ton of man-power, and often our dealer-partners don't have time to leave the sales floor or client's home. Offering an online certification program allows us to reach everyone at once, and on their own time, and we knwo they actually did the work based on quizes and reporting.

I have never seen such quality customer service as I have received with LearnUpon. I currently work with two learning management systems and there is simply no comparison for the ease of use (both as a content creator and as a learner)  and integration availability.

**What problems is LearnUpon LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have created one central location for all training for one of our programs. The trainings we are creating are engaging and easy to access for all of our learners and course creation is straightforward and clear. Any issues we encountered have been immediately addressed by the customer support staff (not just during our initial setup like we've seen with other systems). Tracking and reporting tools are comprehensive and the admin dashboard is very nice.

Nothing comes to mind. LearnUpon is a middle ( closer to the bottom of the middle) LMS that lacks so much functionality, and personalization.

Lack of personalization
Lack of integrations

Ultimately, it's a visually unappealing LMS with no special features that separate it from the rest.

**Recommendations to others considering LearnUpon LMS:**

Honestly, there are such better LMS'. If you have the money, go for Skilljar. If you don't have the money, use a TalentLMS- they're a low-tier LMS that is quick to use and offers so much more for a month to month plan.

Customer service is superb. All enquiries are dealt with swiftly and professionally which minimises downtime on our part. The system itself is easy to use and has all the features you'd want and more! New features are added regularly to keep up with developing technologies.

Nothing! Over the years we've had very few issues, and where we have they've been dealt with extremely quickly.

I would absolutely recommend Learnupon to anyone looking for a comprehensive LMS package.  If great software and customer service are what you're after, look no further.

We used LearnUpon to automate our certification process. Curriculum creation was easy and smooth and the built-in version control of courses helped us support an ever-changing product. A key part was also the integration with our Salesforce, which allowed us to tie everything together within our community.

The user interface is a bit clumsy, especially for the administrative side of things. Better analytics would also be helpful to target specific learners.

It looks clean and professional, it is very easy to use, it is easy for the end user to use, creating courses is simple. We also provide client portals and these are too easy to set up and many love the SSO capability. Their customer support is second to none - they are patient and cooperative for both the difficult tasks and the simple ones when you have left your brain at home.

Nothing is perfect, but the dislikes are so trivial that I won't mention them (we all have preferences after all).

We provide elearning courses to our clients so we need a showroom to show them off and for them to review at their own pace. We believe our courses are excellent and we feel they are delivered for review in the best possible light. We also have some clients who we provide LMS services to through the portal system and this is a great benefit as we don't have to find another provider. We found that the customer service and support with LearnUpon to be outstanding.  The product is fairly simple to use from the "users standpoint" which is great as nobody wants a complicated UI.

We found that the LearnUpon admin interface can be a bit confusing with many levels and layers with menus and options floating around. This has made the management of our courses a bit harder then one would hope for.

When training new staff to support the admin side, it takes quite a nack of trial and error to see what changes when you toggle a setting on or off.

I've been working with LearnUpon as a vendor since 2013. First as a startup, then as VP of HR for a large Manhattan-based company (1500+ employees), and then again as a consultant. Their product is always evolving, to encompass new developments in LMS, but equally import, their customer service and loyalty to customers is tremendous. As a small business, when I have worked with them, they are very sensitive to pricing and will adapt to the business's needs. When I was VP/HR, LearnUpon was incredibly patient with revolving set of trainers and admins. LearnUpon put in endless hours assisting in ensuring that delivery was impeccable and user-friendly, in the face of not very tech-savvy users and admins.

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

There were no downsides. Even though they are in Ireland and I am in the US, they were always available at the drop of a hat, with good cheer and good advice.

Working in an international organization, we needed a portal that would allow us to provide learning for our employees, but also for our resellers and customers around the world. the portal is really user-friendly and includes many features of interest to users. This is definitely a game changer for the organisation to deliver high quality training and an highest customer’s e-learning experience.

As an administrator, I had to navigate with some configuration problems in order to meet our business needs. Managing access and restrictions for our many training courses around the world has created some problems for our users.

If we want to change a banner, add a new welcome message, change course descriptions, create a sign-in screen or change store details; we can do so immediately without putting in a new ticket to the Support Team and waiting for them to get back to you. 
The technical support is outstanding, and has been incredibly responsive to feature requests and resolving issues. This software has allowed me to easily create and deliver high quality training courses.
Our support team (David Bryant, Sebastain Pain, Heath Parkes, Phillip, Jim, Thomas and all the others are always happy to help and guide ua every step of the way.
I would certainly not hesitate to recommend LearnUpon to anyone looking for a LMS and think THEY'RE THE BEST.

That LearnUpon comes with more than one portal, the webinar integration and eCommerce, course-specific discussion forum, the UK data storage, and most of all, the clean,  simple interface that is a pleasure to use for learners, instructors and administrators alike, while providing the robust functionality that us Instructional Designers and Systems Admin people need in the back end. Their client support at every level (from sales to customer success) is fantastic.

White labelling and custom fonts are only available at the most expensive (Enterprise) level.

**Recommendations to others considering LearnUpon LMS:**

LearnUpon should definitely be in your shortlisted LMS vendors, but it should be your first stop if you're outside of the USA and looking for non USA data storage options. It's also the best option for organizations or groups looking to share sub-portals or segment the LMS experience entirely for different learner audiences. Their support and customer service is beyond compare.

With LearnUpon I'm able to support my clients with their first LMS via my LearnUpon sub-portals. This has allowed me and the small to medium cause-driven organizations I work with (who have limited internal capacity to administer systems or design learning internally) to deliver their online and blended learning with as little down time as possible.

LearnUpon's sub-portals have allowed me to diversify my offerings to clients and provide me and my own team with an LMS to host and sell our own courses and learning products. The system is extremely easy to use. The system settings are well organized with helpful hints in all areas to  provide clarity on what a certain function or setting does. In addition, the reports generated capture a great picture of what is going on in the system. The Learner Dashboard gives just enough information for a learner to quickly access their courses and manage their experience. On the instructor side, building courses is made very simple, and is friendly to all levels of individuals. Lastly, their customer service is the best I have ever experienced with any system. They are incredibly responsive, and do whatever they can to go above and beyond to solve your issues. Our Customer Success Manager is brillant, kind, friendly and just an amazing professional. We are so impressed with LearnUpon and their staff!!

**What do you dislike about LearnUpon LMS?**

Certain crucial enhancements have taken a bit longer to release. You cannot run reports (yet) based on instructors. You are not able to filter for courses in the catalog based on instructor. In the courses area for admins, it does not show when a course was updated last or who edited it. The versions function can become a bit tedious when you are trying to sunset a course or you have continually updated it and a learner can see it is version 50.

A ton! We went from a paper world to a digital one overnight with LearnUpon. We love that our learners all over the state can access their content anywhere and at any time. We have eliminated hours upon hours of manual work to track and create trainings since moving to the LMS!
