Being able to run and host LanceDB locally, along with the simplicity of its API, helped me set up local documents for semantic search across our office files. It’s lightweight, which saves me server cost, and it runs seamlessly in my Python app as well. Overall, it feels like SQLite, but for embeddings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don’t think there’s anything I truly dislike about LanceDB, except that it’s still a newer technology, so breaking changes could disrupt business workflows or lead to unexpected API changes. Also, metadata searches aren’t the best right now, and it seems to require some fine-tuning to get the results I want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
