Our biggest headache was configuration drift. We run kubernetes on AWS across three environments, and over time our staging and production clusters diverged in ways nobody fully understood. Hotfixes would get applied directly, Helm values would differ, and nobody had a clear picture of the actual state versus what was in Git.

We evaluated couple of multi cluster management platforms, but most were overkill for what we needed. we did not want to rearchitect our setup. Kubegrade was appealing because it focuses specifically on the lifecycle and drift problem without trying to be an entire platform.

We now run Kubegrade continuously across all environments. It flags drift between what is deployed and what is in our Git repos, catches deprecated APIs we would have missed and gives us a centralized view of cluster health from a lifecycle perspective.

The most tangible result is fewer surprises. We caught three critical deprecations before our last EKS upgrade that would have broken workloads. The drift reports also helped us clean up months of accumulated config inconsistencies across environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
