"Kitty the height of terminal shell performance"

What do you like best about kitty?

This terminal is fast (gpu accelerated), fun and performant as a daily driver for terminal based development.

It also comes with a highly customizable configuration that allows you to change the way things look, feel and render appropriately.

Case example for me would be wanting to run a terminal with as much real estate as possible. I was able to play around with the configuration that allows me to hide the windows tab bar on top, scroll bars on side and event define the borders of the terimnal.

This gave me a great minimalist feel and allows me to be productive without all the extra cluster. As I result I find myself spending, and wanting to spend, more time on the terminal because I felt unimpeded. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about kitty?

It's highly customizable. So that means you're going to have to spend some time play / toying around with your terminal for some time.

For myself I don't mind the exploratory process but I can see people who just want a terminal that will work without heavy customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is kitty solving and how is that benefiting you?

It solves the problem of trying to find a terminal that I can call home. This is important to people that have to spend lot of time coding / drafting up bash scripts / trying to find a way to get work done with minimal effort.

This also allows me to skip having to rely on more applications than needed. Instead of running a dedicated text editor, IDE (vs code), ssh client (putty), music player, gui for application upgrades (app store). I can do all that on the terminal directly.

This in turn translates to better productivity since I'm spending all my time using the tool instead of spreading out that experience for all those other tools.

It also helps me hedge against future applications for whatever job is required. I can probably do it on the terminal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
