"Consistent Network Configurations, Despite Remote Router Gaps"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Kilter?

I like that Kilter keeps firewall and switch configurations consistent across our airport stations with scheduled compliance checks and automatic backups before changes. I no longer have to compare devices by hand, and I can build a change once for multiple firewalls and schedule it overnight. If a device fails or a change causes a problem, I can restore a saved or last working configuration remotely. When a switch failed before morning flights, restoring its saved configuration helped check-in open on time. Seeing configuration history alongside SolarWinds alerts also helps me quickly tell whether a recent change caused a fault. Setup was fairly easy, apart from the satellite routers at our remote stations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kilter?

Kilter only partially supports the satellite routers at my remote stations, so I still have to finish those jobs through the CLI. It works adequately for routine tasks, but falls short for advanced requirements. Fuller support, including templates for custom settings and a backup process that handles slow, high-latency links better, would let me manage those routers from the platform. Setup was fairly easy apart from the satellite routers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
