What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?

The visual designer makes it really easy to trace complex data flows, lookups, and joins without getting lost in pages of raw SQL. Once I set up the mappings and workflows, everything runs rock-solid even with huge batches of student records. On top of that, the workflow monitor provides detailed error logs, so when a pipeline fails I can usually pinpoint the bad record or a broken link pretty quickly. What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?

The UI feels pretty old-school and clunky, so if you’re new to the tool it can take a while to get the hang of it. Digging through huge session logs to track down a single syntax error or data type mismatch can also be a real headache. On top of that, deploying changes between dev and prod environments felt somewhat rigid and slow, especially compared to newer tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had student, HR, and legacy campus data spread across different databases and PeopleSoft, so we used Informatica to bring everything together in our data warehouse instead of writing a ton of messy custom SQL scripts. It helped us automate overnight batch runs and clean up mismatched records across campuses, which saved me a lot of time debugging failed pipelines because the Workflow Monitor logs make it pretty easy to see where bad rows or dropped connections occurred. Overall, it’s made pulling reports and feeding downstream dashboards much more reliable, without jobs crashing unexpectedly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
