## IBM Targetprocess Reviews
  ### 1. Streamlined Project Management, Needs UI Improvements

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anant D. | Senior DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2025

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

I find IBM Targetprocess very easy to use and appreciate its seamless integration with SSO services. I also like how it connects with Slack and Teams, creating an automated communication channel. It's great for team management and tracking, especially during Scrum meetings using the inbuilt Boards. The ease of tracking my tickets and logging time on them is a big plus, as is being able to easily see who's working on what.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

UI could be better. I have faced issues such as finding spaces. When I want to fetch my personal timesheet, I need to zoom out the browser page to modify or edit a specific task time. In the time tracking UI, only the User Story is visible, not their corresponding Tasks. On the homepage of a particular user, the stories that are visible are hard to track, and there is no proper listing. There could be an AI summarizer for Stories on what tasks a user is performing.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use IBM Targetprocess for easy team management, time tracking, and Scrum meetings. It simplifies working on tasks collaboratively, with built-in Boards and a Task Dependency tracker that enhances efficiency.

  ### 2. Single Source of Truth with Clear Visibility Across Teams and Portfolios

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2026

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Clear visibility across all work and teams
It gives a single source of truth where you can see what everyone’s working on — from team tasks to enterprise-level portfolios — which makes coordination much easier.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Several reviewers say that documentation is lacking or unclear, and that official training resources could be more helpful or detailed — making it harder for teams to learn best practices.
G2

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a unified view of all work — from strategic initiatives to individual tasks — across portfolios, products, and teams.

  ### 3. smooth planning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** cody s. | Senior TBMA, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

I like the ability to streamline Agile portfolio and project management, offering teams a clear, visual way to manage work at all stages, from planning to execution.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

The platform’s flexibility, while powerful, can also make it complex and difficult to set up initially, especially for teams unfamiliar with Agile frameworks or extensive customization. The user interface, while highly visual, feels cluttered or overwhelming, particularly in larger implementations with numerous boards and data points. Sometimes there are performance issues when handling large datasets, which can impact productivity, especially in our fast-paced environment.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping teams and organizations gain better control over complex workflows and strategic alignment. One of the main benefits is providing visibility across all levels of work, from individual tasks to high-level project portfolios. This visibility helps teams manage dependencies, prioritize effectively, and make informed decisions, keeping work aligned with organizational goals and reducing the likelihood of bottlenecks.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Cody! We're glad to hear that you find IBM Targetprocess helpful in streamlining Agile portfolio and project management. We understand your concerns about the platform's complexity and performance issues, and we are continuously working to improve the user experience and address any performance issues. Thank you for sharing that feedback!

  ### 4. Transformative Agile Reporting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grant W. | Senior Manager Technology Business Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

The most helpful point about Targetprocess from my point of view as a Portfolio Budget Manager include the ability to assign individual resources to value streams and see their immediate cost impact based upon the allocations entered. In prior years my team had to utilize up to three or four different sets of data and tools to make these calculations. Now we can make capacity changes and see and immediate update to the forecast.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Filtering should be much easier instead of required a ? and set wording which does not always work.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Targetprocess is able to report work completed in Jira that I've been unable to review before. We are able to see work complete, in progress, on hold, etc. and also see calculated costs for the effort completed. This will allow us to transform our ways of working to account for actual costs to the appropriate assets and in the future allow us to remove the highly inaccurate and time consuming hourly time reporting process we currently utilize.

  ### 5. A decent tool to track Software Dev work; they have come a long way in adding features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim W. | IT Systems Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

The current version of TargetProcess offers many different ways to configure automations, workflows and customizations. If you looked at TP even 2 years ago, the product is very different and much improved from that version. They have really listened to what we wanted out of it and done the work to roll out functionality that they didn't have before.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Some of the backend configuration requires a bit of coding. I'm not a career developer, so sometimes it takes me a little while to work through the code in order to make things work.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM Targetprocess:**

Plan out your projects and processes very carefully before beginning to create cards. Once you have those in place, it can be difficult to change them.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a tool that can keep track of all our software devleopment work with a few different products that we offer. We use the Epcs, Features, User Story, Tasks and Bugs in order to track the life cycle of our products.

  ### 6. It blew my mind - What an outstanding Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sinora B. | Apptio Targetprocess Implementation Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

- The flexibility
- Scalability
- The ability to be able to mold the tool to the organizations requirement versus asking organizations to adjust to the tool rigidness (No kidding, it was best thing I have ever seen)
- the simplicity of the tool
- Support of Targetprocess guys and response time of customer support live chat was pure love <3
- Implementation was great, pretty smooth
- Did Jira to TP Integration and loved the ease of creating fields and syncing and mapping data .

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

- Poor documentation - I think you guys still need to make it more responsive and detailed. Info is unclear in many areas and very high levels. Need more robust learning material
- Better Training - the current info shared in training was very different than what I experience on the job while I was working with client.
- Advanced filter could have been simpler, LOL
But now that advanced filter are not simple - a training focusing on using Advanced filter, creating validation rule with some real time case studies or training live session or even training videos... Need more complicated scenarios to be explained and broken down properly.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to bring client to view a holistic Organization view and customize the reports and level of planning across different levels of the org

  ### 7. Great for Team using SAFe

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John W. | Director of Product Management, Industrial Automation, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

It is a comprehensive issue and project tracking platform that includes many features aimed at small to mid-sized companies who are employing SAFe methodologies for their Product/Project delivery process. It has copious features for Release Train Engineers and Product Managers to effectively collaborate on the backlog and requirements.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

The navigation and configuration of the tool can be clunky and unfriendly, especially to new users who are accustomed to simple, easy-to-use platforms like Jira, or others.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Targetprocess is an out of the box solution that empowers SAFe Agile Release Trains to effectively document, refine, execute and release product. There are a lot of tools out there that say they can effictively do this, but Targetprocess is aimed at this specific methodology and enabling all of the reporting, page views and workflows that allow our teams to seamlessly collaborate and for leadership to build accountability.

  ### 8. Mirza's review on the Target process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

We can create an overview of all the projects and portfolios, which helps management decide on their next step.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

TP currently has no integration with PowerBI, which is widely used for management reporting.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a clear perspective on resource management and project delivery

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Mirza,

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We are glad to hear that IBM Targetprocess is helping with project and portfolio management.

  ### 9. Ticket system that doesn't get in the way

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Initial implementation is fast and easy: you can get a team started in a matter of minutes. Basic operations are simple and intuitive. It offers all the features we need, and it is easy to adapt to the way we work (custom process, custom fields, etc). Customer support is great, even for complex stuff (ex: custom automation or validation rules). Since our team use it all day, everyday, we have successfully integrated it with other products, and created custom scripts for many routine tasks using it's API.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

It's great to manage tickets and releases, but the project management features are not very useful to us. The timesheet is the most used view, and it is a popup. It doesn't refresh automatically, which is extremely annoying. A pet peeve of mine is that bugs are different than tasks: I wish there was an option so they behave exactly as tasks (ex: bugs must be created in a story). I created rules to fix that, but they sometime give us headaches when moving bugs around. Managing the backlog in TargetProcess just sucks: that's why we have integrated it with Notion.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking releases, tasks, bugs, and time. We need precise time tracking for government tax credits and I was able to create scripts to ease reporting. In case of audit, we can find details about everything we have done on a particular project. We also use it to track worked hours for pay, for OKR (ex: strategic focus, defect removal efficiency).

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We strive to make our customers wildly successful, and we’re sorry to hear that we missed the mark here. We have taken your feedback on board, and we will strive to make improvements accordingly. To further show our deepest apologies and gratitude, would you please consider emailing us at customerfeedback@apptio.com to discuss this further?

Kind regards,
Apptio Team

  ### 10. Strategic IT Portfolio Transparency

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricardo H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Flexible data model and ability to custimize views for our different user personas.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

The left hand navigation can become a bit overwhelming, would like to see it overhauled to make it easier for our end users to find information

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Present a portfolio view of all the work our IT teams are woriing on, Increase isbility to use flow metrics to increase team effectiveness and efficiency.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Ricardo! We are glad to hear that IBM Targetprocess is a useful tool for you! We appreciate your feedback!
