Key features like Dynamic LPars, Micro-pratitioning, Live Partition Mobility, Shared Processor Pools, Strong Isolation and Security, and many more, position IBM PowerVM as a leader in Virtualization marketplace. **What do you dislike about IBM Power VM?** HMC and PowerVC requires training for new users. Only available for IBM Power Systems. Features and functionality can vary on different operating systems (AIX, IBM i and Linux). **What problems is IBM Power VM solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use IBM PowerVM to run multiple virtual machines on our IBM Power Systems infrastructure. It allows us to run multiple workloads; such as Oracle databases, legacy SAP applications, and test environments — on a single server, which helps us reduce hardware costs and improve efficiency. Currently, we are deploying SAP HANA in-memory database and S/4HANA applications on IBM Power10 systems. PowerVM enables us to create flexible and secure partitions (LPARs) tailored to these high-performance workloads. We have been using an older version of SAP for years, and as part of our upgrade to S/4HANA, PowerVM plays a critical role in ensuring smooth migration and optimized resource allocation. PowerVM also gives us the ability to move workloads between systems with minimal or no downtime (Live Partition Mobility - LPM), which supports our high availability goals and business continuity. The solution is used in our production data center and is central to our server virtualization and modernization strategy. The product is mainly used in our data center for running core enterprise applications, and it plays a key role in our server virtualization and consolidation strategy. ### 2. IBM Power is the preferred solution for bankin organizations in the caribbean and Power VM helps reducing costs. **What do you dislike about IBM Power VM?** Typically this virtualization solution is considerably more expensive than other competitors such as VMWare, is worth to use based on performance, reliability, and security of the computing platform. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Power VM:** I would suggest to use recurrently PowerVP, is a great tool and provides visibility of current virtualized workloads. **What problems is IBM Power VM solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are solving the problem of buying and managing a significant amount of Physically IBM Power servers directly. Also, many clients feel comfortable as they have support to use it together with migration projects to newer AIX OS options. ### 4. In addition to the CPU pooling option which gives you the flexibility to combine the cores and to save a lot of money when it comes to software licenses. Also the online / dynamic resources allocation can save you when you face unexpected performance issues and finally it increases your availability and Business recovery when combined with IBM LPM and SRR. **What do you dislike about IBM Power VM?** It is not user friendly as other hypervisors VMware and Hyper-V also it lacks to VM or LPAR replication to DR sites. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Power VM:** When it comes to critical / core businesses it is always recommend to use IBM Power VM for better security, flexibility, performance and availability **What problems is IBM Power VM solving and how is that benefiting you?** solving performance issues by dynamically assigning more resources when doing performance tests, running in DR or during EOM and other unexpected performance pick problem. Saving a lot of money when using CPU pooling to combine many workloads using the same applications software in the same pool especially in test and Dev environments. using Dev and test resources to increase the resources allocations to DR workloads when running in Disaster recovery. Business continuity in case of disaster. ### 5. It have very outstanding performance and its stability is very excellent. We are very satisfied by using this IBM Power VM. **What do you dislike about IBM Power VM?** Nothing. Its really a good hardware. I dont have bad experience. I am using this and my all of performance issue resolved which we were facing previously. Power IBM VM is best one available in the market. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Power VM:** I would like to recommend to all please use this one time hope your all issues will be addressed. We have major challenge about the system performance when there are more the 10K users logged in to use core banking software. But Now after using this Power IBM VM performance issue resolved. Further its really best and secure as per security point of view now a days. Stability and reliability is world class. Resources are easily moveable from one partition to the other. Processor can be added and removed, Memory can also be added and removed as required. **What do you dislike about IBM Power VM?** The fact that IBM Power VC works only on a power processor. I can only try to imagine a world where I can install a version of PowerVC on an intel machine. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Power VM:** Be careful when working with Power VC. Decide where Partition Management is going to be from. :- HMC or PowerVC. Do not manage a partition with powervc, and manage from the HMC at the same time. **What problems is IBM Power VM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Virtualizing the power server. Being able to share resources in a granular manner. Multiple partitions are created for Training and development, R and D Purposes ### 7. We had a requirement to increase storage and it has been added without downtime which is awesome. **What do you dislike about IBM Power VM?** There is nothing like dislike, it would be great we have more features like real time and historical performance monitoring in the system, more visibility on the communication. **What problems is IBM Power VM solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using OLTP application which require more IO and CPU power.
