What do you like best about IBM Db2?

As a Db2 for z/OS professional, what I appreciate most is the platform’s stability and predictability in production environments. Capabilities such as data sharing, online utilities, robust recovery mechanisms, partitioning, and ongoing performance improvements help us manage very large databases efficiently while still maintaining excellent availability and service levels for business-critical applications. What do you dislike about IBM Db2?

My main concern isn’t the product itself, but the level of expertise needed to use it to its full potential. Db2 for z/OS provides extensive functionality, yet administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting can be challenging and complex. If some management tasks were simplified and onboarding were made easier for new professionals, organizations could adopt the platform more smoothly and operate it more efficiently. What problems is IBM Db2 solving and how is that benefiting you?

IBM Db2 for z/OS meets our enterprise needs for continuous availability, strong data integrity, and reliable performance. It enables our organization to manage very large databases, automate routine maintenance tasks, recover quickly when issues arise, and support demanding business workloads. From my perspective as a DBA, that means fewer outages, better overall performance, more streamlined administration, and greater confidence that we can consistently meet business and customer expectations.
