What do you like best about IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW)?

IBM BAW offers a powerful platform for modeling, automating, and monitoring business processes at scale. It supports both BPMN workflows and case management in a unified environment, which is ideal for complex enterprise scenarios. The integration with external systems via REST, SOAP, and Java connectors is robust, and the visibility into process performance through dashboards is a huge plus for operations and compliance teams. What do you dislike about IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW)?

The learning curve is steep—BAW requires skilled resources to design, deploy, and maintain workflows efficiently. UI/UX for end users and developers still feels dated compared to modern low-code platforms. What problems is IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) solving and how is that benefiting you?

IBM BAW is helping us automate complex, high-volume business processes across departments while maintaining compliance and control.

In our banking environment, we use BAW to streamline processes like salary processing, loan approvals, customer onboarding, and exception handling. These were previously fragmented, manual, and error-prone. With BAW, we now have:

End-to-end process visibility and tracking

Enforced SLAs and approvals

Reduced human error and processing time

Integration with core banking, middleware, and external APIs (e.g., GOSI, Mudad, Equation)

The biggest benefit is operational efficiency with full auditability, allowing us to meet regulatory requirements without sacrificing speed.
