What do you like best about IBM Aspera on Cloud?

What stood out with Aspera was the transfer speed consistency and reliability, even for very large datasets. Teams could move high-volume files much faster without constantly worrying about interrupted transfers or manual retries. That became especially important during time-sensitive operational workflows where delayed file delivery affected downstream analytics and reporting activities.

In one healthcare-related workflow, we were exchanging large diagnostic imaging datasets, analytics exports, and operational archives between distributed teams and external partners. Before using Aspera on Cloud, transferring large files through standard cloud storage or traditional FTP-based systems was inconsistent and time-consuming, especially when teams were working across different regions and network conditions. Failed uploads and long transfer times regularly disrupted operational timelines.

Another strong point was the centralized visibility and control over file-sharing workflows. Operations teams could monitor transfer activity, manage permissions, and maintain better governance around sensitive file exchanges without relying on fragmented external tools.

What do you dislike about IBM Aspera on Cloud?

In our usage, the platform handled large healthcare-related imaging datasets, analytics exports, and operational archives very reliably, but configuring transfer policies, access controls, endpoint management, and workflow permissions required more administrative planning than simpler cloud-sharing platforms.

Another challenge was onboarding external users and non-technical stakeholders. Internal infrastructure and operations teams adapted quickly, but partners and business users who were unfamiliar with enterprise-grade transfer systems occasionally needed additional guidance during setup and transfer workflows. Compared to consumer-oriented file-sharing platforms, the experience felt more operationally focused than intuitive for casual collaboration users.

From a UI/UX perspective, the platform is functional and reliable, but some administrative and workflow management areas still feel more infrastructure-centric than modern cloud-native collaboration tools. IBM Aspera on Cloud solved a major operational problem for us around transferring large business-critical files quickly, reliably, and securely across distributed teams and external partners.

In one healthcare-related workflow, we regularly handled large diagnostic imaging datasets, analytics exports, reporting archives, and operational records that needed to move between internal teams, external processing environments, and partner organizations. Before implementing Aspera on Cloud, traditional cloud-sharing tools and FTP-based transfers were becoming a bottleneck. Large files frequently failed during uploads, transfer times were inconsistent across regions, and teams often had to restart transfers manually after interruptions.
